If I sell now there will be extreme peer pressure to spend it not on a room full of modular but instead on a new bathroom! It can wait :P

1 btc = $10,000.

I don't get it.

Its dropped $1k in an hour

It actually dropped almost 3k (US) in about as many hours which was fairly shocking.
It is stabilizing now though at around 9-10k

One thing I always notice is that there is a baseline level, a rather sudden peak followed by a just as sudden fall and a baseline higher than before the peak is achieved every time. This seems to be the trend of the market so I think for long term investments it is fairly sound.

Only professional pant wetters sell in the dip!

Funny, back in April when I was buying my house I considered selling it all for £700 quid to pay for like a decorator or something.

If instead I sold my mortgage deposit for bitcoin and held it til today, I'd be able to buy the house cash now.

Of course only a fucking maniac would have gambled that much cash but oof, talk about high stakes high reward.

Bitcoin's value is fairly unique in that every coin mined is of increased difficulty to mine than the previous one etc etc. This implies that if demand grows steadily, remains the same or even drops slightly, the value of the coin will still rise. It is still in its exponential phase as to demand, its user base is growing, but if it stays as just being currency for obscure drug markets and not expanding outwards into more mainstream applications (I am aware that it is to a certain extent but it could still be a passing phase) eventually the demand peak will level out.

My advice, as a 22 year old NEET with no experience in investment, is that if the baseline value stays the same after the regular peaks and falls for more than a month or two, its a sign it is going to go into its downwards phase and one should sell. I doubt that will be happening any time soon though.

Had a chuckle at that article by the way, Mexi.

I invested an extremely small amount last week because I am a broke man who basically lives paycheck to paycheck. Not because of the craze, but because I've always found cryptocurrency fascinating and I wanted to invest when it was originally a thing, but it seemed like it was just a creepy Darkweb thing so I abstained.

I just want to buy the new BJörk album with it, so I will probably do that and not even invest. Just so I can tell my kids "yeah, I had bitcoin....then I bought Utopia."

Invested small amounts into Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple a couple weeks ago. Lost a fair bit on the first three, but the value of my Ripple portfolio has already doubled. Certainly one to keep an eye on!

I'd suggest not keeping an eye on things too much. Just buy some and check in once every few months. It's too erratic to make sense of anyway.
