What a track. The bird samples a really tough one, I kinda feel it may possibly be the same samples as used in Pete Standing Alone. I hear Willow Warbler and maybe a blackbird alarm call but it's very hard to say for sure as it's obscured by other shizzle. The main synth sounds very Korg like to me. Love the scream too!

What a track.... Definitely up there. Wish this would get a general release!

Did they mention something about it being their fastest yet (so maybe they did notch up the speed a bit from what was originally intended) and did we ever figure why it was left off the peel sessions....there was mention of that tangerine dream sample. Perhaps that was it?
yes...the slowed down version is incorrect. you can hear percussion when it right and wrong. though cool....slow is wrong.

Yep I agree slow isn't as good.

i personally, prefer the slower (33rpm) version.

i find it to be much more natural sounding.

to be honest, i was never really a fan of xyz until i heard this verison

its not though...you can hear how the sounds are warped...in a bad way. yes the hidden sounds are exposed. but at what cost.

sorry i just have an issue with sounds that are stretched. especially percussion sounds. its grating.

could someone PM me a download of the XYZ 33 rpm version...I am from germany and we have a little institution called GEMA that is somewhat similar to BMI or ASCAP (whichever of these sounds more familiar to you) and it blocks the video from viewing

Slowed down version is great, far superior to the "normal" one. Cheers.

Wow, this is pretty interesting. I wonder where those screams are sampled from.

"It's the longest track and fastest track we done ..." And that's a straight rip from the radio show and I don't think they intentionally played a "bad" non-33 rpm version.

i didnt mean it like that. i was just so surprised when i first heard the track slowed down, that i thought it had to be intentional. only because ive always disliked xyz. but then i heard the slowed down version, and fell in love with the track. so i figured it may have been meant be slowed down.

anyway. enjoy your day.

on a side note.. some of their other tracks sound great at other speeds

one of my favorite boc tracks is 747 sped up to 45 rpm. heres an incredible video

I don't see how so. Interesting to hear but I think if it were intended to be heard at 33, it would have been played that way originally. Not to mention, its speed is what makes it distinct from the rest of the songs in their discography.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

I like it both ways. For years I've been slowing down music of all sorts. From 80's synthpop to BoC. I just love listening to slowed down music. But I listen to these songs both ways often. Whatever mood catches me at the time.
