Here is another new track which was featured on BBC6 named "Wallet". It's a bit BoC-ish.

The new one has been as much of a non event for me as Scintilli and Spokes (though I wasn't into them when Spokes came out)
What happened to their groovier funkier side? I got into them through tracks like Squance and Headspin, and records like Rest Proof Clockwork.

Their stuff for the past while has just been so bleh for me. Also where are the vocal features? My favourite tracks on their records have always been their vocal guests, even if their contributions are wordless like on Rakimou.

I know, can't stay in one place, but a lot of Reachy Prints disappoints me in a similar way to the way Spokes did.

if i remember, some of the songs on scintilli are kinda groovy

i know what you're talking about though, i think its just that they've grown out of things like Squance and similar songs

oh well, I still like Hawkmoth and I think Reachy Prints is going to be pretty decent

Get "Not for Threes".
The albums before it sounded less "complete" in my opinion. Not for threes marked a real turnaround in the evolution of their sound. I don't know if they changed their software , but it sounds warmer , more analogue. They had a few vocalists on this album too...most notably Bjork. The seeds for tracks like tether and hawkmoth were sewn on this album , with tracks like "myopia".
This was the first album of theirs that I bought , after hearing John Peel play them in session , and I later went back and got some of the earlier stuff like "trainer" which seemed more kinda cold and brittle / thin , but Not for threes sounds phat , more earthed and grounded , so definitely a great starting point.

Wallet

So I have heard Matin Lunaire, Navofanny, Oh, Wallet and Hawkmoth. Each single 1 of these is amazing.

This album is gonna be insane.

Yeah, I'm trying not to listen, but album already uploaded on youtube. Just listen to Hawkmoth, Tether, Wallet and OH which is amazing, incredible track!

I freaking love Ropen.. Must have listened to it 50+ times now.

guh. I had refused to listen until my vinyl arrives on Monday or Tuesday, but you guys are making it really hard to resist...

Ok, just listened to it and sound amazing, maybe a little too short, Nafovanny is one of the most beautiful and amazing electronic music tracks I heard !!!

Absolutely loving this. Matin Lunaire and Wallet have me well and truly hooked.

i've seen some people here comparing boc to plaid and i'd just like to know if anyone can tell me how i should go about getting into plaid since i'm not very familiar with their music. i remember hearing a couple songs that i liked by them but i couldn't tell you the titles.
songs/albums to start with?

I can't see much of a comparison between the two, Plaid's style is more a jittery funk infused style of techno and electronic.
But I've always been fond of the records Rust Proof Clockwork and Double Figure, I feel that they're their strongest. Since 2010 or so they haven't delivered much in the way of style changes or musical progression, so I personally feel that if you stick with those two I listed, as well as their compilation of early material Trainer, you'll be all good.

Prague Radio and Squance. Those are my two all time favorites. Not sure at the moment but ed and andy are The Black Dog too as far as i know and they have this song that i think is the most sexiest tune i've ever heard called Shadehead

Google The Black Dog - Shadehead let me know what you think of those tunes. Another great tune by Plaid is Dang Spot.

i like Black Dog Productions - Bytes....but its a VA record. basically plaid in all their various forms. a favorite of mine.
Merck...such a great track.

I think Scintilli and Reachy Prints are their best work. In my opinion they are as similar as Aphex, being well defined and high quality tracks
