it's funny the thing with Captain Beefheart. in another brief encounter with real talent the band had a meeting with Conny Plank hoping he would produce for them, Conny needed just a few minutes in their company before stating "I cannot work with this singer" and did a runner.

Passengers Original Soundtracks 1 is underrated though and could have been a minor cult classic if the band had just called it a day back then and Bono wasn't such a divisive figure or twat if you like.

can't think of a huge band who piss so many people off, it's remarkable really.

BUT the tunes ARE NOT ON YOUR PHONE....they are in the cloud. you have to actually download them if you want them. so fucking RELAX. they're there if you want them...which you obviously do not.

back in the day i used to rip my CDs at 128kbps to save space [as a 50g external HD was EXPENSIVE]...unfortunately i sold those CDs to Amoeba....BUT...if you get an icloud storage account you get something i find very cool.

so [holy shit i just checked the new pricing...i have way more space now] anyways you only got something like 200G for $20. BUT, heres the cool part, if the tunes you are uploading to iCloud already exist...you don't upload them. you already paid for those tunes. and they exist in iCloud already. so that space does not get used. you just get a linked to those tracks. the BONUS is...the old tracks i stupidly ripped at 128kbps are now available to me at 320kbps. and i can DL them to replace my old shitty rips.

If apple are doing this with U2 does that mean apple think that U2 is the most user accessible music for the typical iPhone customer? I say yes. If i put headphones in on the bus, and scrolled through my music on iTunes and saw U2 there and i did not ask for it i would go to the apple store closest to me and throw up on it.

I have to be glad that Apple are letting me decide if i want the song or not as opposed to non-consensually fucking me with it. Because U2 in my ears is like that - it's really non-consensual and causes mild discomfort.

Ah, yes, All That You Can Leave Behind a Really Long Unwieldy Title Because U2 Are Too Big and Important for Short Album Titles. I hate that record exactly for that reason: somehow it was hailed as a "return to their roots". That's sort of when I realised the music industry can make up any nonsense they want and force it down people's throats until they just accept it. I kept wondering, what "roots" exactly? I don't remember cheesy synth bleep-a-dee-bloops and corny Backstreet Boys-ish ballads on Boy.
