Found another. Jack Nitzsche’s original score for “Stand By Me”, right when the protagonists find the dead kid, has that distorted mournful feel in spades:

If I had to guess, since they were talking White Cyclosa, it was this...



They mentioned John Harrison and other 80's dystopian film soundtrack artists as influences in one or two interviews for that album. This is John Harrison.
