around 2008 or so the sound of Wildlife Analysis itself is what got me into Boards of Canada.

Try taking a long break from the internet, and then listen to TH.
So I'll find another distraction. Also thanks for the subtle hints that I'm a nerd. I'm not proud of my life or myself, and no amounts of breaks from the Internet will change that, ok? I don't need another downer album playing in my ears
??? My suggestion had no secret meaning or personal attack towards you. In fact, I understand exactly what you are talking about with TH. With that said, I have found TH to be extremely enjoyable without reading into a million different opinions of what it's supposed to represent. At the end of the day, it's just music my friend. Take care.

Didn't mean to derail this thread, my apologies. I first heard BOC after MHTRTC came out, and have been fascinated every since. I really like their choice of sounds and production style, especially on TCH.

The Beck Broken Drum remix.

Went through all the artists who did a remix for guerolito and came across boards. Instantly knew I had discovered something amazing.

My brother got me into the brothers' music! I still am grateful for that.

Fond memories. Branching out of my punk, grunge and rock shell when I was 16-17 (1998) I started getting into electronic stuff and this kid gave me a sampler tape- Autechre, Squarepusher, FSOL, and BoC- a few tracks from MHTRC. Was instantly hooked on all of it, but there was something more about BoC, and I felt the haunting nostalgic vibe/feel was something that had kind of been in my head for awhile (at that strange age). To hear it realized and so perfectly was a music-changer for me. Shortly after, I saw the record for $5 at a used record shop. Sold.

I have vivid memories of that early Fall in 1998 when it was still warm and we'd go to this big, widespread wilderness park and get high. The late afternoon sun, some of the leaves starting to turn, the beauty and serenity of nature, coming up on my senior year in HS and the feelings of leaving a childhood behind and entering a young adulthood. Wildlife Analysis, Olson and Open The Light really bring back those quiet, sunny early Fall blue skies, trees and feelings every time.

North by North,

there is something really beautiful about reading your post–

In 2008 I was around 17 and in my senior year of HS as well, getting innocently and blissfully high (when weed was still new and fresh) in outdoor parks and listening to Music Has The Right To Children for the first time . . .

to think about that happening a decade prior feels awesome

Cheers man. Cool to hear the same moment lives on.

A magical soundtrack for a magical time.

I can still smell the air.

Lots of fond memories so it's hard to know where to start, but I recall coming across the live @ Warp 10 version of Telephasic Workshop around 2002 and it just 'hit me'. I started unpeeling layers, digging back into their discography, and finally starting to get a sense of understanding and awe. Everything just fell into place after that. I distinctly remember a morning drive on the way home from the lakes listening to "You Could Feel The Sky" on repeat for about an hour, and just being all in from that point on. To this day I'm about as obsessed as one can be.
