Not I don't believe in everything you said j8tes, but if they are normal guys like you say, why they don't come here and answer some of the fans questions, like old tunes, their studio process, why they don't play live, possible new release, etc. or they just are normal guys who loves to play with people expectations? this is where people speculations come from

Of course not. I don't have a problem with Christians watching TV and sitting around campfires – one of my best friends is a devout man. And yeah it sounds like I'm pulling them into my reality which I am for some part, admittedly. I do get what you mean though, I don't know them and they might not be as secluded as they seem to be. I wasn't meaning to dismiss other ways of thinking, it's just my opinion after all. Like I said, "I like to think" – I'm not sure of it, it's just a nice thought that reminds me of my childhood..

you should listen to the music, and enjoy it. anything more than that is a bit absurd. like caring about their personal lives or their thoughts on politics and stuff.

to me, their music is more of a tool for self exploration. like a way to connect with your own emotions. if someone tries to revert back and begin to wonder what boc are thinking or how they feel, its kind of losing the point of the music.

not to go on forever. but when i see people getting all tickled over mdg posts, or getting all excited over tweets. or facebook likes etc. i kind of wonder. did you stop mentally maturing in 8th grade, and how in the world do you have enough mental depth enjoy this type of music, lol

So being interested in any artist and their lives is absurd?

No we just are so excited over a new release from a very hard to contact band that doesn't speak to fans. It's like Willy Wonka in a way. Had he not been a hermit and spoke to anyone his golden ticket stunt wouldn't be as nearly as successful.

wasn't trying to make that last post personal, no reason to find offense. props on the willy wonka comparison though.

let me clarify.

i personally do not care about their personal lives. they obviously prefer to keep private, and thats fine with me, im the same way. i wish them well.

as far as the music goes. ill have my 15 dollars ready to go buy the album when they release it. no reason to even look at the facebook or twitter, they will have all the info on their website once its complete.

I would argue that anyone who drops a casual unironic "lol" may be in the same boat.

I agree about the criticism about over examining their personal lives or what they are thinking when they write music or whatever. I prefer to just enjoy the music. They seem to write about things that interest them and I'm happy to leave it at that, I don't need to see the man behind the curtain.

I am not a big social media person in general, but I do have social media accounts, mostly to keep up with the Joneses' (could be their perspective as well) it's not a very big part of my life. By rolling up a mostly idle Facebook or Twitter account, you spend less time explaining why you aren't on a service than you do if you just sign up and don't do anything with it.

It takes 30 seconds to look at their Twitter feed and another 30 seconds to remark on what may have changed in the recent past. It's not unreasonable to do that once or twice a week in the course of business...I don't think anyone is writing dissertations about the substance of their likes and retweets. It's not impacting my binge watch of Stranger Things. It's not any better or worse than listening to something backwards and posting about what you may or may not have heard there.

I think it's fair to say that in recent weeks, they are engaging in what passes for attention seeking behavior, at least for them. Putting aside the general hoopla surrounding TH, they had very little to say before and after that. If in the past month they retweet 2 items, one on 6/6, one on 7/7, and continue to like a bunch of fan posts relating to wanting a new album...well, isn't it our job to discuss that on this forum? There's certainly more substance there than a black box that sat idle for years (which got discussed to death)

They have asked very little of us over the past 20 years, but they seem to want our attention now, so here it is.

i kind of feel like a jerk for my previous comments. i basically came off like a grumpy grandpa

in reality, i think its nice that we all enjoy the same music, and have a place where we can discuss it from all parts of the planet.

if you enjoy following the twitter and/or facebook page, who the hell am i to put that down. so yeah, my bad.

A lot of us find this as a part of the experience and art of BoC. They post unlike other musical groups and in the case of the last release, it was an amazing experience following them through the internet and other medias on an adventure to find the reveal of the new album. Since then we tend to keep our eyes peeled everywhere for clues or hints at something new to a new extent. We don't want to miss something cool, cause last time was so damn fun.

That said, I do not have a twitter account and log into facebook or instagram about once a month.

It's okay to be fascinated by the personalty behind the art. Kubrick is probably the best example, when you find a piece of work exciting and thought provoking, is it not natural to then be intrigued by the mind that came up with it? Kubrick was an enormously interesting person and the more I learn about him, the more I appreciate the depth of his films. Same goes for BOC, or anyone else who's art I respect. You should be careful when putting yourself on a pedestal like that, comes across a bit cringey IMO. Like that kid at school who always wanted to appear super cool by putting others down. Which makes your last sentence a little ironic.

How do you proud Christians feel about Geogaddi and Nothing is Real?

My dad used to be really obsessed finding backmasked messages in popular music to warn the church about them. This was not an easy task to do with cassettes. Spent entire nights flimsily opening cassettes and respool them. Then he reversed Judas' Kiss by Petra which had a backmasked "why are looking for the devil when you should be looking for the lord" and that was the last time he did. It's probably hereditary.

Geogaddi reminds me of a lot of church-angst I felt in my childhod. There was a room in the church in the back that was for personal closed intense cleaning prayer sessions, that room felt a lot like some parts of Geogaddi. It has helped me cope with that stuff, face it, put it in perspective and find my own way of worship without all the scary exorsism stuff. I don't want to end up like some of my family-members, sitting in closets crying in prayer. I just think jesus was really cool and that the bible holds a lot of wisdom. I'm convinced that if there are any demons, I don't have to be afraid of them as a child of God. That's only part of it, though. It's also just really really good music.

TH has a lot of this vibe as well, as my family appeared to always getting ready for the collapse and the return of Christ. The cold war never ended.

PS I'm starting to like Buddha too!

And be fascinated by many things about it. It's an amazing piece of history and has some crazy stuff going on in parts. The book of Revelations is one of the most psychedelic things I've ever read.

Also, j8tes, dude, you know you can edit posts, eh? .... OMG He's trying to pass Cupz!!! heh-heh jk :P No one will ever pass Cupz.
