Sounds a lot more like Amon Tobin TBFH.

Who says they only made 1 method/style of music back then? I agree it does sound more like Jega, but I'm not about to discount it being BoC because it's not the typical style of that time for them. They made a ton of stuff back then that we simply haven't heard.Omikron wrote:I'm not convinced that it's BOC. It sounds far too hectic. The early BOC we know is more repetitive, slower-paced (change-wise), and much easier to follow. It sounds more like Jega than BOC.

You have a point, but there isn't much else we can do other than compare it to their known work as a frame of reference for their music of that time period. I haven't completely ruled it out, but I find it more likely to be a different artist, maybe even Gescom themselves. Either way, I enjoy the track(s) and would like to hear more of the 1995 broadcasts.747Music wrote:Who says they only made 1 method/style of music back then? I'd love word from mdg to clear this up. As I feel we don't have enough to say either way at the moment.
I think you're right about the super early stuff. If I were to wager what they sounded like back then I would say it's a lot of paddy distorted guitar type stuff. Artists normally start off by sounding like those who influenced them the most. So my guess is that early Boards Of Canada sounds like My Bloody Valentine. No doubt their production process was directly influenced by trying to create a poor mans MBV (loveless cost like half a million to make) through that process of discovery they made some major lofi innovations and just decided to develop a similar approach with synths, no doubt a lot cheaper too.747Music wrote:Who says they only made 1 method/style of music back then?
