although i am not suggesting they don’t or never did use computers or a daw..... i am sure they did and do....
i swear i read in an interview they are fond of fruity loops for sampling..... anyone else remember reading that?

You're right, it's not impossible and as I said, You can do it just not to the level that the OP is alluding to.
There was nothing really like the Tascam 688 back then either. You can do it so many ways in recent years. I used to record all my music into a zoomMRS1608 and to be honest, I kinda miss that primitive way of working and you could do a lot with you music inside albeit blindly. I never did though, just layered live takes.
It wasn't impossible for them to do it MHTRTC and post without a computer but I highly doubt they did. They would have had to have access to some proper pro studio stuff to achieve it and at the start of their career.
Anything previous MHTRTC and even Early mixed of some tracks on Maxima they would possibly mixing as they go to tape.
EP's most likely and earlier, definitely.

I agree, although the tascam 688 did exist in the early nineties so it’s quite possible they had access to one, not saying they did though. I am able to achieve a very fast workflow, although, with BOC’s intricacies, without a sampler or at least some midi banks/loops, then it would be very difficult. In the wheeltower interviews, friends of BOC state that they were into collecting audio technology, mainly of the rare kind, and they alluded to this in other interviews.... i would bet that they did and still do scour the classifieds and other places for specific pieces they want. I have the view that they are “hyper-obsessive” on what they know they want to achieve.... and thus have been collecting the pieces they need to achieve their future vision of their craft

Hard to say really as it was nearly 15 years ago now and even though I make music pretty much the same way, I use a DAW to finish and loads of decent gear now.
It sounded good to me at the time, was fun to use and I think the reverebs sounded way better than any in house Logic ones.
I used a master preset to finish tracks and it seemed to get stuff sounding good enough at a decent level.
If by random an old tune comes up on my MP3 player while walking, i'll listen to it and it sounds good. I'll cringe a little over execution and ideas but not the hardware side of things.
It was a great way to work. I think DAWS give you too much visual aid and you don't need it. I think people get hung up making everything look good as much as sounding good, I know I can. Working blindly is great.

Settings on ANY device can be saved if you have the technology known as pencil and paper. Write down not only the knob/button/slider locations, but also a description of the sound. In some cases, a photograph might help.
Many samplers can save sounds to disk. Recordings of each step can be recorded to disk and/or tape if desired. Thanks to companies that sell tape in bulk for cheap, this is very doable.
I strongly agree with going by ear and not eye when working on sounds. Whenever I find myself staring at the EQ display in my DAW, I close my eyes and just listen.

I swear I saw the (alleged) same guy posting on /r/synthesizers relatively recently under a different username... I checked a while back and the comments were deleted. I believe it was this post:
If you scroll down a bit you'll see someone else asked if he was the same guy who posted the original wheeltower stuff on reddit and I believe he confirmed (of course that's now deleted too)

Damn man, just when I think I've read every boc interview, something new pops up.
Why isn't any of that on bocpages? This is the 3rd time I find something here that isn't there. The first 2 times were actual interviews, and I've only seen them here. I thought they were into collecting every single bit of info.

I think because it is anecdotal maybe. BoC will talk about what they want to be public in interviews and things like this, although I am sure that this particular one is true because I know for a fact that one of those specific details does check out, could be something they don't necessarily want out there.

Interesting find: BoC are listed as Cirklon users on the official Sequentix website

Cirklon is a sequencer, the best sequencer you can buy basically. A very small company and pretty much handbuilt by 1 dude so there is always a long waiting list. I have been on the waiting list for a bit.
This thing is a hardwear users dream. Aphex definitely helped spread the name as he used it to sequence everything on Syro.
It does not surprise me that BoC have one, it fits with the way we like to think they work, out of the box as much as possible.

Both temporal and spatial parallelism.
