From what I can gather, these aren't new rips but only unearthed old rips, so the original tape still hasn't been found. I would love to know how they were tracked down after all these years of speculation.

We wish, it's like our Airfix Bootlegs (Aphex Twin) but with Boards of Canada instead.

I haven't had the chance to listen yet, but wow, this is a huge deal in an already unprecedented year for us BoC nuts.
Who could have predicted any of this 6 months ago?!

WHATTTT
How is this possible?
MDG (and BoC?) themselves didn't even know how the R35TT mp3 collection came to be? (and until now it was just known to be a collection of mp3s)
As far as I knew, it was never even confirmed to exist as an actual tape ?!
Amazing.

Makes me wonder, especially with the timing, if this is a thankyou from BoC themselves in some way, and was done like this to avoid it being a full proper release through Warp.
Or maybe just to close the chapter on it.
Either way, thank you Sam!

It's not unreasonable to imagine that a leaked tape of your old work that was probably never going to get through sample clearance, or be high quality audio enough for the record company would be stealth released out the back door like this. "Oopsie, how did that happen"
But I dunno if I believe it, it's more likely to be a better rip of a tape that's already out there, I reckon

Is the b/w photo at YouTube previously known? I haven't looked for it, just wondering if someone recognized it.

Also, big thanks to Sam and niski for this. Definitely a huge moment. All that's left really with this entire saga is getting the proper track titles on this tapeā¦

I haven't even got to listen to this yet but I have to say, it's a great distraction, well-placed, well played. Thank you, Sam!! I'd just gotten to where my Inferno anticipation ramp up couldn't go much higher. I don't mind some distractions. Last night I was playing the webloops animations ca 2002, all thanks to a topic here. Just realizing I was half as old then as I am now. Symmetry. Back then, I think my computer was below the requirements for a smooth experience, brings back memories. What fun to be in two eras at once. With the future LP looming over me/us. I'm also busy playing around with the live audience recordings and soundboard leaks, compiling something for the reverse of my NTS Warp30 broadcast of Warp 10th (on cassette.) If I finish in time and I like it, I plan on making a few extra and handing those out at the retail session.

I was wondering if this was gonna happen. And now it has, and I just can't get the old noodle around it. FLACs appear to be in processing on archive.org right now. S/O to The Internet Archive btw <3
