are you serious?? every boards song is deep. that's one of their trademarks. i'll take the most "shallow" boards song over the "deepest" dashboard confessional song (or whatever - pick your group) any day.

i've had some of the most introspective moments of my life while listening to that track.

yeah! I agree! Opening the mouth is reeeaally deep, in a very scary way..me and my friend was both high on psychedelics and when that song came on we both saw a girl ghost flying out from the left speaker opening the mouth and then into the right speaker...amazing experience! :O this is a true story.

one of the last textures on amo bishop roden is kind of scary...that crispy thing that comes at the end...im sure it is a sample of a speeech but really fucked up on purpose so that you cant hear what it says at all...I wonder if its a inside joke by BOC..im so curious what it says and im sure its a speech.

i'm sure everyone can deduce two basic 'themes' of the boards: childhood and nature. i always find the nature element to be more significant to me. anyone else feel tihs way? i feel everyone's leaning towards the childhood element more.

Yeah people are cliche'in it. I think boc use the childhood theme to show that theyre music is retrospective not just of their childhood but their whole lifes. Ive never had the an emotion i felt as a child come back to me when i hear one of their songs, but i feel emotions when i listen to a song and im reminded of what was going on maybe a year ago when i heard the song, just how i felt.

We need that element to give tracks some sort of emotional purpose, because it's always been a driving factor in what we love about our favorite music - the time period that you mentally associate with whatever you're listening to. Sometimes even new music that you've not heard before can still achieve that effect of throwing your mind back through time and triggering some sort of feeling. It's nice when you get a potent, sad vibe from a bit of music that ultimately has a positive, inspiring effect on you, like reminding you of an excellent summer or something. "

I seem to notice 3 respective elements. Firstly, Nostalgia (not so much childhood memories, but the past as a whole. Time that has gone by and will never return again.) Secondly, Psychedelica. Thirdly, Nature. Mix it altogether and it paints a very brilliant picture.

Yeah, when I first listened to MHTRTC, nostalgia was what I was feeling. The track that prompted me to buy the album, "ROYGBIV," sparked that feeling first. By the way, I am really impressed with Campfire, I think it's pretty darn good. I hope the Boards don't lose focus ever.
