Good thing your memory's better than mine, mine's freaking awful. It wasn't even all that long ago, and I forgot about the MDG part. Thanks. I didn't buy the idea when he mentioned it, but this made me look back at the signals. I'm no engineer, at least not of audio, but ya...no new signal, all the extra stuff on the high end just looks like distortion. Plus the same 15k shelf's in there. Bleh. I guess I'm finally on the same page now. I'd say it's hard to believe not even one of the people with a copy will ever share something better, but...it has been this long so far. We do have that better Boc Maxima cut, so there's that, but the more time goes by the more I notice my attitude about it all has slowly changed.Techboy wrote: here's the remasters you're thinking of:

the drama surrounding these files was that mdg had an audio engineer confirm that they are just remasters of the 160kbps rips and not actually a new rip from new tapes.
the afotv2 rip, also known - amongst those of us who might well have neckbeards and potentially liked dinosaurs as children - as the "scene release", in question is a bit unusual in that they were definitely not remasters of the existing tracks. some people say warp / boc leaked it for hype and others say it was hacked from warp and shit. nobody really knows tho as for obvious reason nobody would admit any of the above scenarios.
really the rips of otv2 are all really crappy, it would be good if someone with this tape would find someone with a decent deck and rip it properly unlike all the fucking amateurs that have done it before; sadly that will never happen.
