You should dude, it's definitely made for the theatre experience like mech said. I'm still gonna buy it when it hits DVD but nothing really compares to watching it on the big screen..

I saw this yesterday... it was really good. I had no idea it was filmed in that naturalistic style, which was cool. I know there's a general trend towards really dystopian, dark themes in sci-fi in recent years, but I think that this movie that this movie probably referenced the heightened level of fear in middle-class america more explicitly than anything else I've seen recently... That scene where a crowd of bystanders run from the debris clouds of collapsing buildings... and then get THE STATUE OF LIBERTY'S HEAD thrown at them...lol subtle.

It's funny because I was watching the blair witch project on saturday night and got into a conversation about how influential or relevant that film was to the current crop of shit-your-pants hyper-real movies, and the next day went to see cloverfield- which uses the same handheld approach and was also promoted via ARGs and the internet (i didn't know either of those things before i saw it) For whatever reason, people have become way more pessimistic than they were in the late 90s and I think that whole style of blurring the lines between horror and reality, and refusing the viewer any escape through objectivity really resonates even more so than when films like TBWP, and to a lesser extent The Last Broadcast, were released.

And also, definitely a cinema film. Go see it in the cinema, it will be X a million better than downloading it. I'm kicking myself for not going to see Children of Men on a big screen now I've realised how different this style of film is in a cinema.

I thought it was ok, but the Hud dude wasn't funny. Who would act like that during such dire times?

Finally saw this tonight. Man, what a disappointment.

I LOVE a good monster movie and had been looking forward to finally catching up with this one for some time now. Was it just me, or were there about 20 seconds of (very) mild tension, surrounded by 110 minutes of paper-thin characters that I didn't care about at all, shouting "Rob! Rob! Oh my God! Rob! We gotta get outta here Rob! Rob!". I watched this with my partner Eleanor and when the guy holding the camera got eaten we both looked at each other and in unison said "Thank God for that". The only saving grace was that at a mere 110 minutes, even the director apparently got bored of it....

Pretty much summed up what I thought of it. Watched it at the piccies near when it first came out and don't remember much of it...pretty forgettable.
