Daverdann means well, but I'm assuming English is his second language...
I think alot of the inadvertent 'tension' is just misunderstanding or inarticulation due to a more limited grasp of English... Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also Daverdann, you can always 'edit' your posts rather than making so many in a row

Well Englisch is my second language, but i don't think the articulation of my feelings here is that bad, that comment i gave earlier to Ross Adey was not to offend himGoiter Sanchez wrote:Daverdann means well, but I'm assuming English is his second language...

(btw there's no sequencers in the dr who theme tune... just vast loops of tape and some synths pushed into self-oscillation and manipulated by hand very carefully. if that ain't idm [which is a term i fucking hate anyway] i dunno what is...)

I don't know - it's got a fairly rhythmic bassline. You certainly couldn't dance to a lot of other IDM though. I reckon IDM is a really bad term to use for electronic music.D4VERD4NN wrote:Yes i know but it's no dance music is ithexagon son wrote:the dr who theme tune definitely counts in my book. not many people had access to synths back in 1961 so i think that is fair game. and orbital did re-work it. i can still remember the first time i heard that theme tune. very creepy.![]()
Also, I agree that Delia Derbyshire was a pioneer.

There's another term for music you can't dance to, it's called ADM>Abstract Dance Music, also used in the electronic music scene.Anonymous wrote:I don't know - it's got a fairly rhythmic bassline. dont know if any of you have noticed but there is a poll i put up called define dance music, it would interesting to hear some of your thoughts to what constitutes dance music and what doesnt. what elements are required and what arent. is kasabian dance music? they use synths and such, but also use guitars. their music has a beat.
