unfortunately it seems like the majority of people out there really do like to slurp down whatever crap the media throws at them, but that isn't necessarily their fault. most people are bombarded with consumerist propaganda for the majority of their lives, and never really question it... just like a lot of people get christianity crammed down their throats and never really question it. (no offense) everybody at one point or another was that ignorant kid, and had to get introduced to things. then it seems like its just a matter of how far you are willing to follow the rabbit down the hole. it seems to me like that the only people that still really get offended by that type of thing are people who are still only a few years from being that person that they hate being able to identify with. the austin music scene, actually every music "community" i've witnessed, are full of people that act like they know everything about everything, and act insulted by the existence of anything,or anyone, that doesn't meet their new exacting reality tunnel they view the world through.(besides, if you believe in any concrete standards you immediately must believe in its concrete dualistic opposite.) it's never a surprise to learn these people only put on their new costumes a couple of years ago, at most. it just makes more sense to me to concentrate more on what i think than to worry about what anybody else is thinking. i don't want to measure my own thoughts against what is obviously the overwhelming majority of assholes in america.

I hate it when I talk to fellow christians, and they have no fucking clue what they're talking about.
Most of'em get it all wrong, wich often turns them into the "strickt" stereotype

I agree. Why would BOC release a music video if not for getting a large audience, including some teens watching MTV?

I have a few friends that listen to BOC just to look sophisticated. I'll accept them for who they are, but I usually prefer listening to everything by BOC at once, and with quality headphones or speakers only. It really is an experience - if I had a bunch of money I would get a super expensive speaker system to hear every frequency BOC produces.
There might be more secret messages. Who knows.

Yay, everybody follow me! I was into everything first, but I'm losing my edge, from the kids, coming up from behind.

Is it just that when people like things you like, you want them to be into as much as you? And when they're not it's a disapointment so you get to the point that even before you've checked you just know they aren't going to be one of the ones that get it? I have few friends who are into music as much as me and like the same kind of thing but they all get it wrong and like the wrong stuff as far as I'm concerned. And although I don't give a shit really and it's just cool to have someone who you can talk to about how amazing Clear records were or can introduce you to Bochum Welt (which you'd been meaning to check out for years or more) but still, no-one get's it like you do and that's annoying.

I like repitition though. It's only through the repitition that it becomes truely beautiful.

I doubt that their music is mainstream even though it is quite melodic and more accessable than alot of elecronic music.
Although do you not think they are slightly mainstream in that their music is pretty much accessable to all?
They're fairly popular. Loads of people I know like their stuff and unfortunately some like to name drop them.
I've lost count the amount of times I've walked into a bar, records shop, house party and heard BoC.
Not to mention the fact that their music is used on tons of tv programmes.

I remember when MHTRTC came out there was lots of hype around them in the music press (even those mainly dedicated to rock music) and as far as I remember when Geogaddi came out in the UK it had a pretty high chart placing. I just don't think they're the best kept secret that some people believe they are.
