Yes, send me the 320kbps.
The reason why we prefer lossless is to prevent quality loss. In the mixing and master process the files needs to be encoded to wav. When everything is finished it will be re-encoded to mp3.
i've got a few tracks i'd like to submit. however, i'm not schooled in lossless audio and have an irritating adolescent "fuck hi-fi!" attitude. can someone help me figure out how to convert, if possible, WAV to some other lossless audio that doesn't take up a zillion MBs of space?

You are free to choose whatever quality you want.. just record and submit in lossless if possible. This is to reduce the quality loss in the process. This way it'll be available to the listeners ear as you intended the quality to be. When your song is recorded to mp3 in the first place it's ok to submit in mp3.
I posted a piano composition up here; at school I'm doing a remix of it which is a bit more ambient and less pianoy.
I removed the link to it from this site, and really it'd only be a rough draft sort of thing anyway, It's changed now.
In either case: Would you mind if I gave you, eventually, both the new version and the original piano-only version and allowed you to choose which one fitted in best?

It sure isn't a race! I was more speaking about the reactions on the topic itself rather than the submissions. Even if you submit on the deadline itself you make as much chance as when you submit today... Don't worry about it.

hey since this is a mixed business, do you recommend a certain bpm range as well? i'm just wondering if you had issues with that on the previous one Robin..
The mixing stage should not influence nor limit the artist's creativity. The variety is what makes OoT successful imo. Though.. we try to aim for an uptempo scheme to give it a more uplifting touch. Also, various styles and tempo makes it more challenging to mix and turns it into a more enjoyable story, imo.
As OoT should be an outcome of this community I'd like to hear when users/artists don't agree with me?
(This is mine line of thought but I don't want to speak for the masses)
