hmmm, i don't know if i like Dracula Family or not, the first reaction is negative but, considering it's a change in direction, it will take some time to assimilate.
The only record which i don't quite like is Happy Music For Happy People, i love everything else.
i still don't understand why mr. beast hasn't clicked with me...it just seems forced in comparison to everything else by them. hmm.
Friend Of The Night, forced? i want a dozen of these forced tunes for the next album, please! :D

Happy Songs For Happy People is one of my favourite albums of all time.

hahah, my typo is a consequence of the very few times i've listened to that album, something that will never happen with masterpieces like Rock Faction or Come Owl Die Young...

I love Mogwai, but I find you have to listen to them (esp. Young Team) in completely silent environments due to their points of extreme quietness.

I'm a fan, only have Rock Action and Happy Songs For Happy People though. I know I need to get Young Team and well, basically everything else. Their music has carved its own little niche in my listening habits.

You have to go for, at least, Come On Die Young. You won't regret it, i'm pretty sure. For me it is there with Rock Action and Mr. Beast as their best albums.

I have NEVER seen Rock Action in a shop, though I've seen all their other albums.
Ep+6 is also amazing, by the way.

Said it before and I'll say it again: The ending of their live show is the best of any band I've ever seen. Other's might have a better show overall (Muse, Prodigy circa 1996 to name just two) , and (to be honest) the middle of their main set dragged just a little. But when I saw Mogwai live, their finale was - quite literally - blinding. Go see em somewhere hot and sweaty and be awe struck..

I don't remember if it was blinding but i can assure you it was deafening. They left guitars onstage buzzing at full for 15 minutes or so after playing My Father My King for another 20 minutes. Epic

Been on one of my periodic mogwai kicks of late . I'm REALLY looking forward to the new album.

Also, how is it possible to not like Happy Songs For Happy People? :P

It is perfectly possible, believe me!
Not the worst album of all time... but it really was a huge disappointment for me after what I considered to be one of the most moving musical creations ever. It simply caused no effect on me, plain indiference. Perhaps I didn't pay enough attention, who knows...

Am I the only one who dislikes HSFHP here!? :?
I still remember it wasn't as positively received as Rock Action, in general.

Eagerly waiting for new album though.

Young Team is one of those epic albums. I also really love the "kicking a dead pig" remix cd, lots of great electronic remixes of Mogwais stuff.

The Gwai on 45 remix by Arab Strap is awesome, as is (topically) the Kevin Shield's Mix of "mogwai fear satan". anyone heard the album? what's your favourite Mogwai songs generally?
Ooops should have read this first. Yeah that whole cd is super lush, I really like the arab strap remix too those delayed bell sounding melodys are breathtaking.

Cheers!

You gotta love Mogwai song titles. eg. "I'm Jim Morrison, I'm dead."

New song sounds refreshing! Although I still relatively enjoyed their recent output, they haven't released much since "My Father, My King" that has really caught my attention...great live band, though. If this is any indication, then I will be pleasantly surprised with their new material.

Album seems to have leaked. Sadly the bit rates on the songs range from 128 to 320.
