i first heard BoC in salad fingers. yep.
i was faced with buying Geogaddi or MHtRtC but sprung for MHtRtC after a sampling of the tracks on each. i kinda forgot about The Friendly Stranger and Geogaddi for a while, and dropped into a brief obsession, won't-listen-to-anything-else, rant-and-rave-about-how-good-it-is thing with MHtRtC. this all occurred in, I think, 2002 or 03.

I'm a latecomer, I know, but still as obsessed as the best of ya.
I heard BOC for the first time unknowingly from Salad Fingers it was Beware the Friendly Stranger, and to this day I can't listen to that song because it was ruined by salad fingers. The first BOC i heard knowingly though was Aquarius from a friends recommendation.
it's the exact same for me =_= i hate it

A friend sent me Roygbiv. I haven't been the same since
There's something really undescribably magical about the first time you hear something, especially if it becomes your favourite track.

A girl I had a huge crush on played me MHTRTC in 2000, she left me alone to run an errand and I listened to the whole album alone with something slowly evolving in my mind. (An eagle?!) Didn't quite get it at first but had the impression that this was streets ahead of anything I'd heard and would change my ideas about music forever if I let it. For that reason, I didn't get into them straight away, but I'm glad I eventually did!

I heard BoC were cool so I downloaded Geogaddi. I guess Ready Let's Go was the first song I heard, although the first one I liked was Music is Math.

haha. my first listen was on salad fingers - Beware the Friendly Stranger. I had just discovered Aphex Twin and wondered if Boc was similar. My love for BoC has far eclipsed Aphex since, and Boc have done so much that constantly inspires, relaxes and moves me. The first album i bought was Campfire Headphase..Geogaddi second. The first track that I fell head over heels for was Peacock Tail.

Hi Scores EP when it came out.
Got it for a friend who was out of the country and gave it one or two listens. Wasn't blown away. He came back and played me MHTRTC. Then I got it. He's a good friend. Even persuaded me to get the Aquarius 7" later when I wasn't sure. Thanks! Now I'm the bigger fan.

I was on a huge ambient-listening spree about two years ago as of this month actually. Was Streamripping songs from di.fm's ambient radio station, Bocuma was played. Forgot about the mp3s that were ripped, then I remembered them in February or so, listened to them through on and off, then I thought, this Bocuma song is so awesome, but it feels so incomplete...
So I downloaded several songs off the bat, "Music is Math" "1969" "Color of Fire" "Kaini Industries". I didn't know the tracklists, but I had thought that Kaini Industries followed Bocuma. After listening to the tracks I figured I liked the music enough to download the full album So I downloaded MHTRTC, and immediately fell in love. I bought Geogaddi and Twoism at a store. (I almost bought the LP of towism, kinda regret it now).

A friend of mine had been trying to turn me onto them for almost a year..then I bought The Campfire Headphase kinda spontaneously on the day I moved to Ottawa for the summer..and that did it.

Actually, I think it was "Turquoise Hexagon Sun" being used on Monkey Dust, but I didn't know it was BoC until I had Geogaddi and MHTRTC.

first time i heard it was in the Apple store for the introduction of the iPod. A local DJ was playing mixes from 2 ipods. I'm pretty sure the track was either Everything You Do Is A Balloon or IABPOITC (I never could quite remember). I heard the music and was instantly hooked... i felt like i was in a dream as i floated over to the DJ and asked him who it was.
Went home and ordered Geogaddi straightaway.

i was a huge radiohead fan...i think someone on ateasweb.com recommended me them. the first time i truly appreciated them was at a small house party...before then, i remember not being able to 'understand them'. x
