cartoon with BOC music

Salad Fingers isn't blatant at all, it's funny and lowering at the same time, and the BOC tune matches fine with it :!:

I see validity in both arguements for and against the use of the music in the flash. I think David Firth is a fairly talented Flash animated and I enjoy his films. The first time I ever heard BoC was in that first episode of Salad Fingers, though at the time I wasn't aware of who they were. (I was initially attracted to the Firth cartoons because of the use of Aphex Twin) It wasn't until a stormy night at 2:00 AM that I stumbled upon BoC while looking through similar search results for Aphex on Amazon, but that is neither here or there.

I agree that watching an animation like salad fingers while the BoC track is running spoils the song a tad for me because hearing "Beware the friendly stranger" now more often then not conjures images of salad fingers and his bleak universe.

At the same time while for some reason I don't want to admit it the song does suit the animation well.

Another narrow-minded person here, when i listen to "Beware The Friendly Stranger" i don't get images in my mind from Salad Fingers. I think that there are more worrying things in music than David Firth who uses a BoC tune in a funny cartoon :!:

Hearing music can arouse all kinds of memories, I really don't see the connection here.

Ofcourse music can conjure memories, good and bad! But i think that's not the big issue here, it's about don't abuse the music from BoC, some people think BoC music is a sanctum, that's why i think they are narrow-minded because it's not! Just 2 Scottisch guys who make good music that's all.

What is the difference between good music and personal sanctum, Is it all so black and white. That in itself sounds close minded to me, though the close or open minded arguement seems off topic. The use of BoC doesn't really bother me in David Firth toons, I was just saying that I could understand how it might for someone else when everytime they hear that song images of salad fingers are conjured and then it just doesn't feel the same as when you didn't know what to think at all, that was much better. BoC has stated in their interviews several times

As well as crediting the listener with intelligence, which, as Eoin later points out, so few electronic "dance" producers do, Boards Of Canada also credit us with an imagination. They leave space in their music for us to project our own ideas, images, and thoughts. Their messages are in there, but they are encrypted allusions hinting at what might lie within. It might explain why they are becoming so popular, because in a way each Boards' track becomes very personal to the individual listener, alluding to different things in different people's lives.

I know they've said the same thing in different words several times before. I don't think it's so pathetic for someone to consider BoC a sort of sanctuary. I do think their are limits to fandom which I believe is what you seem to be implying. Good music is good music, so of course some will take it in and keep it with them, and maybe become a little obsessed in the course of it all. To each his own, I think that Sex is a very good thing, but I don't go about rapping every woman I come across, I think that sandwiches taste good, but I don't sit on my ass and eat them all day, in this vein I say that I think BoC are good music, but I'm not gonna base my whole life around them and become some automaton fan if that is what you fear people are doing, D4VERD4NN.

For me it's pathetic for an individual to look at a musician as a sort of a sanctuary, and about yr mixed metaphor, that's a blue joke.
