That clanging sound that repeats throughout the song I think is the wind blowing a flagpole rope against the pole repeatedly. There's a lot of stuff in their music that I think can trigger emotions/memories, even if it isn't understood consciously.

Its scary how you just described that sound, I had always heard this sound, yet I just assumed it was a sort of noise they created, but I definately recognize the sound with your description, no wonder it seemed so familiar....

I only recently recognized that sound. I've had a few other insights to their music, but none that I can think of right now though.

I first started listening to BOC about a year ago. Lately I've started listening to them again, after not listening to them for a few months.

I think this is very thought provoking track, to succeed in the further listening in Boards Of Canada music, you usually have to crack the first track.

This sounds accurate, but has anyone noticed that there is a pattern to this "clanging" or "chime-like" noise? I remember 3 chimes evenly spaced apart, followed by another slightly later, and at a higher pitch. then it repeats throughout the track. the interesting thing to me is how the 4th chime seems to line up with the main synth melody and almost gives one the impression of a key change. can anyone follow or am I out to sea?
