Disappointing.

There were three (3!) opening bands, one passable and the rest just... blah... imo. Ulrich didn't go on till well after midnight, and it was kind of just him manipulating loops on his laptop. There was no sense of pacing or build, just one wall of sound after another. It was boring.

Brandon and I looked at each other after a while and just shrugged. It's too bad.

I have never been Ulrich's biggest fan. So take my opinions for what you will. I just think it could have been much, much, much better.

The venue left much to be desired as well.....

However, seeing Brandon and Jill and Anson was cool though. Can't complain about the company.

Hmm, I didn't feel disappointed at all with the performance. How did the venue leave much to be desired, was it not loud enough? The bass at the Austin show was shaking my clothes during the loud parts, and for the most part the crowd was really enchanted with the whole mood of the show...he got a great response.
I guess I can see what you mean about meandering through walls of sound a bit, but I actually like that myself. I just closed my eyes and visualized the music taking me on a cloudy journey.

drunk/ it was awesome. maybe because after reading in here i had lower expectations, but it was fucking sweet. Shit got loud, rattled my intestines. It had a kind of improvised feel to it, it was pretty minimal with the choruses less exaggerated. he was going for a more shoegazey feel. im not a huge fan of his new stuff but he delivered for sure, it was cool to see the legend that is ulrich schnauss. shook his hand and told him he was an amazing human being. /drunk

Dammit. This makes me wish I wouldn't have skipped on him when he was in Portland. Maybe sometime in the future...
