I don't like what he did with this as much the Tears remix, but it's still ok. Both original versions of these songs are of course untouchable.

Tears From The Compound Eye backwards is just astonishingly deep, that soft piano passages give me chills. Possibly the best BOC track in reverse. Check it out if you still haven't:

Its cool, but it doesn't equal to the beauty of the track in its original form.

This thread prompted me to re-listen to this song right now and I agree... this is some epic, amazing magical beauty happening here.

In the last year-or-so I've really come to appreciate TCH in general much more. I think, one thing TCH has done, is present an alternative 'narrative' to all these 'campfire headphase' moments that so many of us have in our past, in our 'magic teen' or early-20 years, maybe; that is, a narrative alternative to the notable occupying forces of 'hippie' associations here. TCH, rather, presents a narrative that links with a much greater depth of emotional and personal triggers and references, blending the 'real' of the acoustic with the 'virtual' of the synthetic.

Would have to agree 100%. Somewhat like an audible sleeping pill (the good kind) if headphones are used.

This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Tears From the Compound Eye is one of my favourites. I think that the magic of this song is in the way the sound is sculpted. Unlike most of the songs by Boards of Canada, which main focus is made on the melody and its construction, I think that the most attractive feature of this song is the sound itself, the echoes, the resonances. Its texture creates a space, the echoes build up a surrounding, and it places you in that environment.
For me it sounds like a water cave. Something like this:



On a side note, it somehow reminds me to Super Mario 64's Water World theme:

It creates the same type of acuatic and blue-ish atmosphere.

As an aside some poster above mentioned it sounding like a cave. I've said similar things before. The very end (literally the last 10-20 seconds) sound like water trickling down from some mossy opening meters above into a dark, blue cave.

Just a note. I am not a conspiracy theorist but I have spent years doing personal research in to brain chemistry.
