my head was full of these BOC moments during my prime with them. i miss the days of creating this fantasy world in my mind. its most certainly made it more difficult returning to reality!
I used to really lose myself in BoC, but lately my life has just gotten so busy I just have them on in the background lately.
yeah...it was around 18 months ago i truly fell in love with boards of canada. at the time there was nothing better than them, weed and the night sky. each song would lead me to another place. i would sit there seeing this vast landscape form in my mind, the songs became so much more...it was like each and every instrument was living and breathing. i would love to go back...but after such a hard year it seems almost impossible without permanently destroying my mind.

You just wrote down what I wanted to write down, although I fell in love with BoC before that.
The euphoria I got from listening to BoC is gone... Probably becouse I heard the songs a million times each.

I feel similarly, although I'm not sure if the music itself really has anything to do with destroying my mind.
Snowpepsi, I rarely listen to You Could Feel the Sky. While it never really did anything to me, it just freaks me out.

It's strange how some things freak some people out and not others... I don't think I've ever not been able to listen to something... certainly there are some things that I find hard to watch.. but nothing I find hard to listen to... maybe that means I don't have much in the way of imagination lol

the songs haven't destroyed my mind, its more to do with an experience i had with mushrooms...i don't think i was quite ready for my reality to crumble before my eyes, but it was my own stupid mistake. anyways getting a bit personal now...basically i've stopped all drugs for now, although that lure to return to that beautiful place cannabis takes me is always there!

I feel like....it freaks people out in the same way that LSD and viewing the Earth from orbit can. To me, the tribal-sounding voices at the end encapsulate a kind of....primal rage against our cosmic impotence...a deep-seated existential despair that chills to the bone like a deep winter.....
so. we. howl.
And when insanity sets in....we babble, hands uplifted, to our Gods.

I don't get why people find meaninglessness so terrifying. Yes, I'll die one day. I get on with things.

Good for you then? Maybe you don't see the same things and thus you are without the corresponding fears or anxiety?
The poison is in the *dose*.

Meaninglessness is terrifying because with absolute meaninglessness comes absolute loneliness and spiritual disconnect (hell).
I for one greatly value meaning, and try to breathe meaning into all I do. It's becoming harder and harder to do in a postmodern world where meaning is increasingly laughed at and devalued.

Is this going to become The Meaning Thread?
Ok, I'll weigh in.
Screw meaning. I'm comfortable with the notion that, quite possibly, I'm no more than a sack of meat in a big cold universe that doesn't care about me or my friends or how cool we are.
The universe being an unmoderated circus of absurdity and pointless chaotic action doesn't frighten or upset me. What scares me is meteors.

i for one am always looking for a meaning for the everything. sometimes it comes to me in dreams, not very often... i find life to be quite empty and without meaning even though i have a wife who loves me, a child on the way, and people who care for me. it doesnt seem to be enough for me though. i generally find religion unfulfilling, although my latest dream had pointed me towards celtic mysticism. a large part of my bloodline is irish and scottish, but i never really thought about it until after this amazing dream. i find my dreams to be way more fulfilling than life itself. sometimes i wish i could dream forever.
EDIT: WRONG THREAD, WILL REPOST WHERE APPROPRIATE!
