for me whitewater is the opposite, it's a total return to innocence, which is itself slightly dark in a way insofar as innocence (as experienced as a very young child) is also ignorance, and involves an ignorant perception of what beauty and truth and the self and all those things are, but it's also a very precious thing. nova scotia robots does the same thing to me.

Boc Maxima, in a way, feels almost like a prequel to their later releases.

I had Dawn Chorus as my allarm clock for weeks. It was weird.

Twoism ep gave me some weird vibes some time ago...really melancholic. I haven't heard it since.

I had Bocuma as my alarm for a long while, but it felt as though I was losing 'it' when it woke me up every morning so got myself a proper alarm tone again. To me it's one of the saddest, most melancholy - and yet optimistic - tunes BoC have up their roomy sleeves.

Everything You Do Is A Balloon is a childhood journey through dark and light, climbing up a random hill all the while.

5.9.78 is an westbound freeway drive during a Pennsylvania sunrise when there's nothing else on the road. The road ahead lit in spectacular orange from behind.

Telephasic Workshop is being eight years old and watching Science Workshop (memory fail, UK-ers? try this) on the school tv with the other kids on a bright springtime morning.

Music is Math is a train journey I once took to Connecticut. Unfamiliar places and landscapes and little towns, all gelled with the music. It's an audio Amtrak ride.

Skyliner. Sat in a window seat, nose pressed against the pane, ascending through the rain and clouds, pushing into the great blue space above, the wingtips scarring the cloud tops and the cabin filled with light.


Guess my (badly stated) point is, BoC seem to be better at planting both imagined scenes and real tangible memories into my head than other artists I listen to.

That song always makes me think of someone standing on a tall building during a sunset, deciding on whether or not to jump.

'You could feel the sky' terrifies me.
I love that song but it's so sinister sounding. No matter how many times i hear it, it the scares the hell out of me. fun!

I also feel a profound sadness whenever i listen to 'everything you do is a balloon'. It's one of my favorite tracks.

Actually I think Boc Maxima might be my favorite album of theirs right now. I love skimming stones, whitewater,nlogax,M9 ...

Okay enough with the flight of ideas rambling. I guess what I really mean to say is that a lot of BoC's music provokes very powerful emotions in me. This is the reason I love them and why they sound (to me) very different from a lot of electronic music that can often be emotionally cold.

What pretty much everyone said re: You Could Feel The Sky. A true dark masterpiece. Twoism is also haunting.

Track that's hardest for me to listen to: I've teared up/cried a few times listening to The Smallest Weird Number.. sadness would invade me yanking me back to childhood insecurity, i still remember that feeling very precisely FROM my childhood.. Sad and fragile... I find it irrational these days when very occasionally I dream about petting a whiny dog or watching a cartoon with my sister and then wake up from the dream crying inconsolably... takes a few good minutes for me to shake it off, pretty unbearable ..

Funny cause when I listen to the track in reverse, it doesn't evoke that same sadness..

Recently a close friend had his first E trip on some quality Molly and I was incharge on the tunes. I played him Verve's Storm in Heaven followed by Echo Dek by Primal Scream and finally Geogaddi; when it got to A is to B as B is to C he got really spooked out by it and had me turn it off.

For me there is something in their music that calls to me in a very very deep way, I can't quite put my finger on it though, longing for a simpler time or loss of innocence might sum it up.

the music is deep because it makes you think...

so i did this and went for a walk through the forest and i love this song more than ever wtf!
it didn't scare me this time. It has this redeeming quality as the song goes on that segway's perfectly into corsair

well ya theres still that creepy zipper sounding thing with static beats in the beginning but i figured out it scares me beause it reminds me of being buried.
It sounds like shovels digging in the sand and pouring over a grave...
but then underneath it all, you begin to hear this delicate gentle hum
that slowlyy gets louder like a symphony of crickets at night...
and it begins to lull you

to a beautiful place, out in the country, lol, under the sky or the coke sign, in the sunshine,giving up your ghost to the sky
but it's okay because it's your time and your soul wants to rest
so you let it begin to sway you to other side
there is a ceremony being performed that helps you transition to the other side
which is where the voices kick in

into the sky ..

for me, its the fact that the world 'pressure' is pushed and whispered repetitively deep beneath you could feel the sky. like most of BOC's composition's, the more you realise it, the more you listen. and this was just one step too far for me!

Melissa Juice is one of the BOC songs that almost brought me to tears with its beautiful melody.

Diving Station on the other hand is one of the most terrifying tracks on geogaddi going from the calm almost schizophrenic piano to the horrifying void beyond it...terrifying

me too...1986 summer fire is flooded with nostalgia. definitely one of my favourite tracks.

Melissa Juice is fucking epic, it reminds me of when i was walking down a street at like 4.30am and this girl came up to me (clearly just come out of a party, she was barefooted) and she was asking me directions to the nearest bus stop. So i gave her directions, she was pretty hot too! i was gonna say, ''do you want me to walk you there?'' but i chickened out. Got a pretty nice picture of the sunrise from that morning too.

I always think of Corsair as the last step of rehabilitation. Like, you've just gotten lost in the depths album (Let's assume them to be physical) and this is sort of the last stretch of road until you get back to your hometown, you know? I wouldn't say it's a happy ending but it seems to be alluding something similar to.

Dawn Chorus, this one, this one reminds me of a JG Ballard short story called Myths of the Near Future. All that babbling an boobling. They are using drums and stuff instead of VHS projectors or empty swimming pools.

Track is like a happy goo (tracers). After blowing up during Alpha Omega and all the parts swirling around we are back to basics. Head Jr. comes down and its a total wipeout.

Maybe that high frequency squee is tickling some fancy part of your brain?

Man it would be fucking crazy to go to some abandoned part of town and blast Twoism in the early hours of the morning...fuck people up.

Anyhow, why has Kaini Industries had no mention so far? For me it conjures up images of playing on foggy beaches with my parents not far away....delicious memories.
