How is the learning curve for Ableton? I hear it's a great piece of software for making tunes. I installed it a while ago and looked at the GUI and was completely lost. Any suggestions on where to start? Any good known guides to using this program.

The reason I'm interested is because I might be buying an Akai APC40 in the near future. It looks great and it'll match my Akai Professional MPK mini. This piece of hardware is advertised to use Ableton and not the software that I use (Acid Pro 7). I really want to get the full benefit out of it.

Should I switch software and move on over to the wonderful world of Ableton? and get the Akai APC40?

Are there any tutorials on the Ableton site? I found it relatively easy to get the hang of compared to Cubase or Logic. As a compositional tool I far prefer it to the other DAWs I've tried.

Are you using soft synths or hardware instruments? I'm sure there are a lot of people on here and other forums willing to offer help if needed. I switched to Ableton when I started using hardware synths and Reason wouldn't allow me to control them over midi.

I think the APC40 is designed pretty much exclusively for Ableton. I have an APC20 and the big grid of buttons translate exactly to the matrix of clips/loops in Live. It has completely changed the way I gig now and I love it.

Load a song by dragging it in and cut and paste to glitch it up.... go from there!
