I know what you mean about it being more of an introspective journey. Utterly hooked/obsessing over On A Highway at the moment. AC and Bibio have completely consumed my listening this year. Nothing else has come close.

Same here with Mr. Bibs and AC. Was hoping the new FLips LP would do the same, but it just hasn't stuck with me. I did spend a lot of the year going through heaps of old vinyl though, and I found plenty of good ear fodder there (Steppenwolf still sounds golden).

Regarding pitch-correction, I know they used it a bit on Merriweather. The vocal arpegios on Fall Be Kind (especially on I Think I Can) are even more detailed and pitch-perfect. They're a solid live act, but not really known for hitting notes spot on like that...has to have been done in post-production. Not that it matters too much. I do the same for vox on my tracks, albeit in a much less sophisticated way than what they probably have access to.

Cheers for the link! Always seems that either Avey or Panda Bear are on-pitch, but rarely both at the same time. It worked better in the earlier days when their music didn't depend so much on solid harmonies and pop hooks, just random hoots and howls.

Still, their new stuff is fucking superb, so I'll shut up and just enjoy the ride.

this is great. sounds like they went back to their old sounds a bit. it reminds me of the psychadelic loopiness of feels.

Panda Bear was definitely hitting the notes a lot better when I saw them in Brixton this year, although my lasting memory of that night is that their setup looked almost comically tiny dead centre of the stage with acres of space around them.

Now this EP is where it's at.

Anyone else think "On A Highway" sounds surprisingly Trans-Canada-Highway-esque? The opening synth is a close cousin to the main riff in "Under the Coke Sign". Very chilly, glacial track.

Damn, this EP is good.
