Sequotia, for me, was more charming than ROYGBIV.
But 'A Beautiful Place Out in the Country' stuck with me when I heard it, and can bring out the same feelings and memories to this day.

Know what you mean by the 'getting' thing - well, for me it was when something *clicked* and I appreciated this music I had been enjoying for a while (boc) was much more special than most of the other stuff I listened to and loved. It was a long time ago so I can't remember the exact track, but I do have a distinct memory of the first time I heard IABPOITC - and kid for today hit the spot

When I heard that track, I was totally flabbergasted. It has such beauty, it is so wonderful. And I'm listening to it right now, and it always brings me back. BoC is more then a band

Bocuma - from my first plays of mhtrtc. The track seemed to make alot of the rest of the album really make sense and fall into place for me. A beautiful little piece of music.

turquoise hexagon sun... i was listening to a lot of downtempo stuff like dj shadow and mo wax etc at the time,but when i heard this beautiful track,it just seemed so different and unique,and i was hooked from then on in

I first heard Chinook being DJ'ed at a party, I was intrigued, so I looked them up. But when I heard Kid For Today I was completely sold on them. There's definitely a quality to that track for me that makes me understand them more.

God I love that song.

Chromakey Dreamcoat, a little over a year ago. I had some buds over, we camped out in my backyard, and smoked an incredible amount of marijuana. I plugged my iPod into my portable speaker set, and ran around the tent with people inside, and others did the same. The effect of music surrounding you while extremely high had a big impact on me, and I listened to The Campfire Headphase all day the next day!

Cool to see someone else from Rochester on here. I might have already posted to this thread, but hearing MHTRTC in entirety when it was first released, purchased on a whim based on a review in Alternative Press. Remember those days of magazine reviews and buying physical CDs?

Bought MHTRTC when it came out and loved the run of tracks from Turquoise Hexagon Sun to Roygbiv, but it was hearing Kid For Today (and the rest of IABPOITC) that really unlocked BoC for me. It felt like I'd been given some crucial piece of information on that EP that made it all work.

Then came Geogaddi, and the real obsession started.

As soon as I heard that song, I had a complete flashback to a day where a friend and I went to a sod field on an cool breezy overcast fall day. We just layed there watching the wind whip the grass around. Was so peaceful.

It also makes me think of water

Hearing Julie and Candy after the first part of Geogaddi while watching 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' on silent and ripping some killer weeds was my first real BoC experience. I've never looked back.

Also, the other tune was Olson. It just stayed with me for whatever reason. In the way that most boc music gets you...

either Whitewater or IABPOITC (that album.. is almost painful for me to listen to.
and i mean that in the BEST BEST BEST BEST BEST way possible. i love that album)
