Well 100$, not really.
Yesterday 2 finished with 32GBP in near mint condition and a 36GBP sealed(!) copy.
I've paid too much for mine, but thats life

I see the CD enthusiasts have overtaken our poll, but nice to see there are good handful planning to get themselves into vinyl...

well, my imagination goes a long way. I watched the Magical Mystery Tour DVD on shrooms once and everything sounded like it was played in my living room. I like the vinyl sound...but I feel its becoming more of a style thing for most people. Like...they're cool because they only listen to vinyl. I met a guy who was bragging about his extremely expensive headphones and him being an "audiophile", but I felt it was mostly just showing off. He was quite the poser.
Like people that record to digital, and then release it on vinyl...thats just retarted.

I love imperfect sound though....i even like 56kbps mp3 music.

I'm here. And i'm totally addicted to records. 4000+ and counting. But i'm not one of those vinyl snobs who says records are somehow better than other formats.

Please tell me you've got a list of your entire record collection written down somewhere... I'd love to see what's in there.

As for me... I can count the number of records I own on one hand. I tend to find new music through the torrenting route. I listen to an album once, if I like it, I try and find it. I usually buy CDs, but in the cases of the records I own they were either only released on vinyl (Analord 3 and 4, which I found one time randomly on Amazon) or they are just really difficult to find in general (The Tuss- Confederation Trough and Remotion: The Global Communication Remix Album)

For me it all comes down to paying the musicians and owning a physical copy of the music I like. I tend to favour CDs as they have their advantages (namely spending two or three minutes per CD rebuilding my MP3 collection after say, a hard drive crash.)

Wow, no, I don't have a list... that would be a monumental task. I doubt you'd be interested in most of it, unless you are like me and love all sorts of different music. Maybe you do, I dunno. Everything in my collection is categorized and alphabetized, otherwise i'd never find anything when I wanted to hear it. Pretty much each row is a category- jazz, funk/groovy stuff, easy listening/exotica, rock, soundtracks & 12"s, misc junk, various artist LP's, and 3 boxes to grab in case of fire (that's where the BOC is). Oh, and a small section of stuff I picked up for my girlfriend, mostly filled with Zappa. I paid $1 each or less for probably 90% of them, and what I can find around here for a dollar blows my mind. It's not easy though, going to same thrift stores over and over a few times a week and finding nothing.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying Geogaddi and Campfire Headphase when I saw them (not in a thrift store obviously). I do have TCH, MHTRTC, HiSc, IABPOITC, and Twoism. Cherished..... (and just to show my non-snobbery, I have some of those on cd too)

Records (about 400) lots of warp, electronic, metal and indie stuff. though i do have some classics like Yes, Grateful Dead and Beatles.

I actually just started buying CD's, I've got somewhere around 40 now, but expanding and expanding. Loads of stuff I need to get, I like being busy with buying CD's and stuff. My brother just got into vinyl and stuff, and I must say I prefer Vinyl over CD's when it comes to quality, it has a certain warmth to it or something. But problem is, CD's are more usable, and less expensive. And I think there is a shitload of artists who don't release their stuff on Vinyl anymore.

you'd be surprised! lots of artists still release vinyl.

just look at insound.com, boomkat.com and bleep.com!

I love a bit of everything that required a braincell or two to write (so... everything that isn't top 40 pop music.) That's kinda why I asked to see if you had a list of your collection, I've heard so much bad music when I try to find new stuff by myself that now I tend to just follow up recommendations and see what the people of similar tastes are also listening to.

I like that you've got everything sorted properly. It drives me crazy when I go into someone's house and their collections are either sorted wrong, or not sorted at all. I kinda have a sixth sense for that.

Like I said, I have seen some fetch for $100 on ebay though.

I prefer digital because it requires no physical storage space and it is 100% cheaper and more mobile. I still buy CDs for big releases but I need to stop, I hate using them.
