Yep. They used to do cool things to keep it interesting. So great how people are so quick to take stabs at others online. Easy to hide behind that screen huh! Thanks.
Sorry it's more a dig at the band than anything.. the fact that they don't publish any updates whatsoever has us scrutinizing every little detail.. they are terrible at touching base with their fans
^ more this really.

The fact that the only two files (as evident here:
http://www.boardsofcanada.com/audio/06a.swf) are 06
f and 06
m makes me think that perhaps this is the answer:
"Specifically, the distinguishing characteristics of FM chirps, broadband clicks, and social harmonizing are most easily visualized with the spectrogram." (from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectrogram)

I have been searching for the music they had on their website back around 2004 for quite a while. The track was more ambient and sounded like a fluttering flute. Anybody around here know where I might be able to hear that lovely tune again?

This?
I have put forth the hypothesis that this is sample from the Dark Crystal but I lack the technical savvy or a copy of the movie to prove it.

I haven't seen the Dark Crystal. I could have sworn though that I had heard this piece of music in the 'Lord of the Flies' film near the start. I'm pretty sure that's where it is taken from. I must try to dig it out.

Here. At 5 mins 30.
the soundtrack fits in quite nicely with the film.

And I think this fully explains why the Old Tunes will never come out as a box set, or in any way for that matter.
There are SO many samples in those tunes, I think it would be far to costly to clear them all.

Yep, I remember it and the other flutes track that was mentioned here both being on the site before Geogaddi came out but obviously weren't included on the record. Always thought that this would have fitted in nicely on Geogaddi, but I suppose it wasn't their work really. Only realised this a year or two later when I was watching the film.
