Don't worry about it. BoC Maxima is basically an unpolished version of MHTRTC. MHTR has the same vibe and better tracks.

MHTRTC is outstanding album - it has very different atmosphere from Old Tunishly BoC Maxima.

If i'll have to choose between them - Maxima will won :)

But the MHTR tracks are better. All we have of the Maxima ones are crappy internet mp3s.

Stop arguing with me - it was just my decision about album. I understand your point of view - you just said that MHTRTC is better for you - do not say "better than" - it's very disputable words for me - ok? :?

Considering that a good chunk of Maxima's material is also available on other official releases, among other reasons (the second half of Nlogax has never done much for me, and Aquarius 7" version of Chinook blows the Maxima version out of the water), I have to say that these days I much prefer Music Has The Right as far as full-album listening goes.

With that said, it's an absolute crime that Whitewater didn't show up anywhere at all on Hi Scores, Twoism, or MHTRTC.

I justify listening to songs on youtube in the hope they've been uploaded by an owner of the physical album. Which is highly unlikely.

So if I can condone searching the songs on youtube, then I also should accept that there's a possibility I can get the torrent from someone that owns the physical album. I guess this is one of those moments when you realize there's a lot left to learn.
In case you guys haven't noticed, I can be a bit of a moron sometimes. lol. :) Several apologies.
Honestly from the sound of things, you should do what feels right to you. What others have said about the availability of this record is true - I downloaded it, for instance, but your dilemma is legit regardless of whether the record is widely commercially available or not. There's no reason to feel 'wrong' for being hesitant about wanting to download something that wasn't specifically released with that intention - that makes total sense to me anyway. Your instinct is that you don't want to rip off the artist and you're trying to determine if you should feel that way or if you should just feel chill with it and not mind. Most people have the exact opposite problem.

As for the thread subject...hell yeah Red Moss. To the people who claim BOC MAXIMA is alright to overlook or "not as good as MHTRTC", you're welcome to your opinion, but let me just say this - 3 or 4 of the tracks that only appear on BOC MAXIMA are easily in my top 10 BoC tracks of all time, whereas there might be one or possibly NONE from Geogaddi in my top 10. Opinions, man.

Absolutely, mmmmm. The Boc Maxima exclusive tracks are wonderful. I always thought that Rodox Video should have been included on Hi Scores, it's such a beautiful little track.

Yeah it's really awesome, I totally love the drum track

My two cents is that Boc Maxima no longer generates money for BoC if it ever even did. Any money generated by it at this point goes to the person selling their copy for great flipping wodges of cash. It is one thing to download music that still generates money for the artist. It is another thing entirely when any money generated wouldn't go to the artist.

In other words don't feel bad. BoC isn't going to lose any money from you downloading anything that isn't commercially available.

They could possibly loose out from future sales if these tracks are included in the fabled Boc Set.
That said, who in their right mind wouldn't buy the Boc set just because they already have some dodgy mp3 files.

That's exactly right! I think that's maybe the reason I have yet to download it. I would much rather purchase the tracks remastered by BoC themselves than, as you so perfectly put it, dodgy mp3 files. I hope to buy a record player soon so I will have an even better way to listen to their music! :D

But like he said who wouldn't buy the fabled BoC set if they had the chance? In my mind mind having Boc Maxima and hearing the tracks would just make me more likely to buy the BoC set because I know the tracks are so good. But hey do what thou wilt.

Well, I find myself in slight agreement with you. But for me, I don't need to hear the tunes to make me wanna buy it. The music I've heard from BoC has always been infectious and awesome. Need I say more?

yeah. speaking for myself i can certainly say that i would buy a box set - the only reason i wouldn't is if it was like... a repackaging of MHTRTC, Geogaddi, and Campfire Headphase, or something like that. Like... no, I have those. I don't need them in a spiffy box. If it contained tracks I don't have "properly", like old tunes or maxima, i would certainly buy it.

I would buy either Old Tunes in a heartbeat. Same with Play By Numbers and Hooper Bay. For some reason I am dying to hear Infinite Lines of Colorful Sevens and the song titles on Hooper Bay remind me of songs like Chinook and Niagara. Even if I had dodgy mp3s of any of the old releases I would probably still buy them as soon as I had the chance.

If you feel bad for downloading an album that is impossible to find otherwise, find another way to pay them and make up for it. Buy a few copies of MHTRTC and give them to friends, or buy a T-Shirt from Bleep.com

Dude, great idea. I think I may do that. :D

Wrong. Despite it's lack of availability, it's still illegal. Copyright terms in the UK (at least, it varies worldwide) are for the lifetime of the author(s) plus another 70 years.

(it's interesting to note the sole exception in the UK for all this is J.M.Barrie's Peter Pan ... all proceeds go straight to Great Ormond St. children's hospital.)

Anyway that's the legalese out of the way. If Warp / BoC / Hexagon Sun had any interest in enforcing this i'm sure they would have done so by now. I'm also sure they don't like the idea of suing their fans because they're not Metallica
