You know, I've been thinking about this video off and on the past few days, and I've arrived at an assessment of why I'm not as into this work as some of his other things (including his "vignetting..." videos): I'm just not digging the tune as much as I enjoy his other things. You know, one thing that's appealing about Bibio's work is that (in addition to his obvious command over his craft--that's just immediate and incontrovertible) he seems very earnest. This video has that quality, but just falls somewhat flat for me personally with regard to two other issues: (a) it's got a tone that's a bit too mopey, and (b) the lyrics are too predictable. That combination makes it hard for me to connect with this particular track. Thus, while the visuals are fine, I think it's the song itself that's the issue for me.

That said, the sampler had some promise in that other snippets sounded more engaging to me.

pretty good in my opinion. the beat in the beginning is not my favorite, but the one in the end I like. especially like the solos that sound like they were electronically manipulated. like someone said before, I think this song is a grower not a shower
