Eh, quickly buried at sea? Thats seems like a mighty strange thing to do.

I have to belive that there is more to this than...
I felt the same way about it. At first I thought they made it up to make Obama look better and to get people off his back. Again, they can say anything and the U.S. will eat it up and say it's true.

The whole burial at sea is do to the fact that they had to bury him quick, do to his religion. I think they did it because they didn't want him to have a funeral so they used the whole religion thing to their advantage, and dumped him.

I would like to see some evidence of his death though. Autopsy Reports/Photographic Evidence.

But now, I just don't care... I don't trust the media anymore or the U.S. Government for that matter.

The burial was apparently in accordance to the Muslim tradition of burial within a day of passing. It does appear on the face to be rather suspect and tactical in terms of timing etc.. but i have very little doubt about this being fixed.

The only thing i do not undestand, the networks have reported he refused to surrender so they shot him twice in the head, you can deduce from this that he was at gunpoint from more than one gun. Why did they ask him to surrender? and more so why did they instantly kill him when he refused?

Would be interesting to see some records/photos/dna testing they must have conducted before he was dumped.

Sadly, his death is more symbolic than tactical. Terrorism will continue across the globe without him.

I'm sure that they will produce images of him soon enough, much like they did with Hussein's sons. If they don't, I'm also pretty sure they will be leaked. They also did away with his body to avoid it's recapture and the possible establishment of shrines as reported by nbc. Apparently the sea burial does have something to do with Islam, but I'm not really sure as I don't know much about Islam.

not that you could really make out a clear face after two shots to the head, but if there is no photographic evidence released, something smells a little fishy (no pun intended). i mean, didn't they release the pics on mainstream outlets of his cohorts a few years back? anyway, i probably wouldn't even believe it if they did release photos, it just seems weird. for all we know he was killed years ago, and they're releasing it now as a boost for obama, as some others have said.

we could send a dozen men to the moon and back 40 years ago on gameboy technology, but it took 10 years and a trillion dollars, with the finest technology that has ever existed, to find one guy....?

Quote from the Onion "Republicans' most hated man has been killed thanks to leadership from their second most hated man." Isn't that just a political slap in the face?

I think at this point most of the conspiracy theories surrounding OBL's death/life could be dismissed. DNA evidence is near irrefutable. I'm just stating what I've heard on public t.v. and radio, as well as the u.s.a's national networks (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.). I'm not disputing anyone's opinion, as human beings we are each entitled to our individual opinions.

For some future reference:

I'm sure the author/author(s) will be updating frequently over the next week or so.

I must admit that I got realy parranoid after watching the zeitgiest film about 9/11, so thats clouded my views about this. While I know that DNA is a near perfect way to identify someone, we still only have their word on all of this. I am not trying to slant this thread by bringing up these questions though, so sorry if it seems that way.

The events that have been described do actualy make a lot of tactical sence.
They couldnt hold him captive, otherwise these terrorists would simply retaliate by taking their own civilian hostages, so the kill shot seems necissary. Burying him at see also makes sence, so that there can be no sort of shrine (there is probably a better word for it, but it escapes me at the moment).

Yeah, just disregard Aesthetic's plead to keep the unnecessary threads at a minimum. Cool.

all right, i hate getting involved in potential wars, but here goes

this is probably what happened. the two of them noticed rather eventful and thread-worthy news. stry and josephg both saw that no thread had been made about it yet. stry goes to create his small post, while josephg goes to create his slightly longer post. stry posts his, and josephg hasn't seen it yet, as he is still in the create-a-topic page. he's looking it up on wikipedia or some website. he puts his post together, and still hasn't seen stry's topic before hitting the submit button to create his topic.

therefore, they both created their thread without seeing or knowing of the other's attempts. neither of them did wrong. the other one's already deleted, and this is the main thread.

's all good, end of story, no big deal, everyone move on

Just because Bin Laden is dead, that doesn't mean terrorism will end, in fact it might slightly motivate it.

On side note, I really hope that voters of next year's election won't be so persuaded by this to re-elect him.

For real. Waterbagel, you pretty much nailed it. I was just short of Str's post. No offence to you Bya, but I checked just before I started writing/copying/pasting my initial post and there wasn't a thread about it.

As far as krs is concerned, no ill will, yeah? This is just a forum, and all I've been posting are updates. If you feel obliged to take over (since you WERE the first poster of this news), feel free to, no harm done man.

and there's no war here. There's more than enough war in our poorly comprehended reality.

In any event, let's all keep up to date with these astounding international developments. They heavily outweigh most thingskeeping us online anyhow (and notice I say most things.).

Look guy, I'm putting this nicely because I can see you obviously haven't annoyed enough people today. I wasn't trying to start a quarrel, I was simply pointing out that the topic had already been mentioned. If the 'innocent posters' weren't as worried about post count as they are about helping keep open space on the board, maybe I wouldn't have had to point it out to begin with.

There's a search option. Just use it.

p.s. I have had a terrible two days, and there is no font for sarcasm.

i may be COMPLETELY wrong about this, but to me, it seemed like mccain and obama were both fairly poor choices. we just, as a nation, picked the maybe-lesser of two evils.

i could go for a switch. although now, the parties are both so.. different, yet exactly the same..

what's the difference, you know?

First and foremost, I'm most sorry about your having a terrible two days. It's America, man. We're all spoiled brats compared to the rest of our tiny earth. Don't believe it? Just google a few popular international topics. Or better yet, listen to BBC World News.

Well it looks like you totally ignored my post about taking the topic over. You think I want to talk about countless thousands of lives lost in the name of a twisted and truly fucked up perversion of a religion? A perversion of a religion that debases human life? Well no, I don't. Please keep talking about how this twisted religion justified such fatality. I'm actually sorry I started this thread.

I just hate how the system works. You either vote for one of two candidates, or you basically throw your vote away.

Haven't seen if anybody said this but I need to get it off my chest.

It's pissing me off how much the media here in the states is glorifying and celebrating this guys death. It is disgusting.

It's pretty shite and doesn't give many options. It almost encourages people to vote not because they like they guy they voted for but because they don't like the other guy as much. Sad.

Exactly. And even though I'm a conservative, people assume I'd vote for McCain.
