My dad calls them "Boards Of Ironing", because he thinks he's funny.
He calls Aphex Twin "Aphex Weasley" after I told him he was ginger.

Yep, that's the same as the response I got from my friend.

From the other people I've played BoC for, they don't like them.

As for everyone I've asked, it's always a no. Then again, most people I know really are pretty much in the indie pop or rap scene, so I hardly ever even ask.

It's always difficult to try and introduce a band like BoC to a friend, I think it's better if they just discover their music themselves. I have quite a few friends that like them however, some guys where i work are fans of them which is awesome since we can always recommend each other new kinds of music we may like.

i was always into autechre and aphex twin in a massive way. BoC was there but i didnt care too much for it.
now i still have time for autechre but aphex gets on my tits and BoC is the shit..

Never met a fan either around here, nobody knows them. Weird because BOC defines me and who I am in a way.

But I got my mom to like them! She loves "Amo Bishop Roden" and says it reminds her of old slide films and childhood memories.

I don't know if I ever spoke about them to people before other than my wife and a friend that likes shoe gazey music and hip hop.

I did drop "In a Beautiful Place..." at an artgallery back in like 2002 though and got some people standing in front of me head nodding and looking rather spaced out.

I've gotten 2 friends into them, they knew it before but since I was such a fanboy they gave it another chance, and are completely sold now.

I have one friend that knows of them....he likes a couple of their songs, but most he finds too repetitive and boring. :/

I tried introducing them to my parents once. I think I played Aquarius and I just remember them thinking it was silly, with the random voice samples and such.......

Another friend doesn't like it because he feels music needs real instruments for it to be good, otherwise it takes no talent to make it (ugh). These days he mostly listens to post metal (as far as I know).

My other friends I'm afraid to even try introducing them to.....they mostly like mainstream popish stuff.

I have a lot of friends who listen to BoC.. like at least five plus my girlfriend. And I know many more people that I'm not very close to who listen to them as well. You guyz need better friendz.

I remember one time, I was staying on a hostel on Tulum, México (i'm from the northwest) and met a girl who told me she was from scotland, I told her I loved a band called boards of canada and that they where from over there. then she told me something like "ooh cool, I've seen them twice, would not expect anyone from méxico to listen to them" and i freaked out.

I have one friend who knows who Boards of Canada are. We both happen to play D&D as well as the same Warhammer 40,000 army. He too was raised on Hitchhiker's Guide and British comedy as a whole.

I don't think he counts. Despite the fact he looks nothing like me I assume he is just me from an alternate universe or something.
