a female friend of mine heard Kid for Today and said it was "sexin' music." the only way i ever got friends to sit through any music was to have it on in the background, all under the radar, until they said "hey, that's cool."

I would recommend Amo Bishop Roden, you need Amo Bishop Roden in your mix, definitively. And Everything you do is a ballon, and Hi scores, and Dayvan Cowboy, and 5.9.78.
Ah, getting girls into BoC... I tried and I failed, such a tragedy.
For the last track though, you should choose Soylent Night, to make sure she's really worth it.

Meh, BoC just don't do it for the girls I know. I mean, it's not the fact that they're not easy-listening. I could show them modern classical music or something and they'd be much more into.
Me and my girlfriend met BECAUSE of our shared love for BoC. My advice: MHTRTC and TCH and the other single tracks suggested. But I have to add 5.9.78. Too much magic in a single track to ignore.
I don't think BoC is very difficult listening to begin with. To fully appreciate BoC though one must gain an appreciation for the very subtle differences in note and timbre. It's very beautiful once you finally think you have an entire track figured out after many, many listens, but then it hits you again and you notice another trail that can be followed to another valley of subtle beauty.
Most people don't care for music enough to do this. It's not the art form they prefer. Just like you may not enjoy staring at a sculpture or painting for hours on end, some do not like to put effort into appreciating music. I'm not saying this is the case with this girl in particular though, I'm just talking generally.
Anyway, BoC isn't very difficult imo, they're more of a taste thing. The only truly difficult music may be late Autechre, more complex RDJ, and a bit of Venetian Snares. Maybe even Merzbow for the abrasiveness factor. The first idm track I ever heard was Gantz Graf by Autechre and I thought it sounded like a pile of random metal scraps being put in a blender while being dropped down a thousand foot well, but I found it interesting so I kept listening and learned to love it. I don't think most people would care enough to listen to something that hurt their ears at first, over and over. That can't be said for BoC though as it's not really abrasive but...

I think the long tracks really aren't complete without at least one of the short interlude tracks that go before or after them. I can't really listen to Turquoise Hexagon Sun without the short little thing at the end of Sixtyten (It's Too Orangey), or Kaini Industries after it.
If it was someone I just met, I'd probably wait until I know them more before immediately trying to throw BoC at them like "Listen to this music I like, it's so awesome, you just GOTTA hear more of it, OK? THIS MUSIC REPRESENTS ME YOU WILL LISTEN!!"
Of course, she asked to listen at first so you're probably not in a similar situation

I got lucky and found a lady who was just as into BoC as I was... as well as a lot of other good music. As far as playlists I'd say get a sense for her taste and go from there. That's generally what I do with anyone I show music too, girl or not. Either way best of luck man. Just remember if she doesn't like it then she's not the one >_<

Sequoia has a similar feel to Roygbiv. Hey Saturday Sun seems pretty good, too. Dawn Chorus can be pretty uplifting as well.
That's funny its the first one that really grabbed me by the balls (so to speak) and it took a while for me to wrap my head around the rest. To this day its still on my top 3 list.
My first favorites were:
June 9th, A beautiful place in the country, Amo Bishop Rodin, Music is Math, 1969 and you can't go wrong with Kaini Industries/Bocuma/Roygbiv trio.
I think a lot depends on what other music she is into. I've always liked dark music as well as uplifting things so I really like the menacing sound BoC have at times as well as the beautiful interludes.
Many years ago I played Music has the right in the car with my wife. She was bored to death and we changed it to underworld beacoupe fish.
This was around the time where artists like felix the house cat, ms kitty, peaches, and fischerspooner flourished. She was/is into music with energy. She wasn't the kind that conjured up images of hexagon clouds... she just wanted to move it!
Of course, she asked to listen at first so you're probably not in a similar situation
