I'm thinking about going, but I'll need to be fairly sure of the location before I drive all that way...

I am totally and completely at a loss as for what to do right now.
I've said many, many times over that I will fly ANYWHERE in the world to see BoC play, and I mean that. Unfortunately though, after having been in South America for the last while, I am not in a position of leverage with my work to just up and bounce for a couple of days. I mean, I could probably sink the obscene cost of a plane ticket onto a credit card, and I could probably find a way out of working for the next few days if I really tried, even though it would be quite a burden on others seeing as how we are short staffed as it is.
That being said, if the location of the show was definite, I would make it happen. No doubt about it. As it stands now though, I just don't know if it is worth the massive headache for a show that may or may not happen or be found.
Perhaps that is what they are doing here, making it so that if you really, really, want it, you just have to go part-ways on faith.
One thing is for certain: this is going to be insanely special for those who are there. A top-five lifetime events.
I think that my conclusion is that if another essential piece of information is somehow revealed in the next 24 hours, I'll bite the bullet make it happen.

What do all you people do for a living that enables you to afford a trip to Scotland?!
I just quit my job so I am on a vacation essentially till the 15th when I go in for an interview for a new job. Had I had the dough, I'd be on a plane with you but... alas... I am nothing but a working class poor person.

i am a fool, and me and money are soon parted. had a expensive couple of months. i think i will regret this for years to come, not going that is. i hope you all have the time of your lives. me on the other hand, will be going to a festival seeing loads of bands i dont care for (well, i like goldfrapp, quie a bit actually

) at least it'll keep me busy, and ill try not to think about it too much. ive learnt a lesson out of all this... always keep a few hundred quid spare just in case your fave music act decides to throw a party in the middle of nowhere!

Hi!

There's going to be 3 or 4 of us going up, arriving in Edinburgh middayish on Sat.
I was thinking though, we need to set up a definitive site which we can use on the night to post feedback (Wilshire Poachers's wiki maybe) It will be a nightmare browsing loads of different threads with a patchy mobile signal. I'll check if Wilshire's Wiki can be posted to on my mobile today.
The other option is to communicate via SMS. Maybe put our phone numbers somewhere? It would be such a shame if people are flying over from the US and see nothing. Having said that, the weather is supposed to be good and Scotland's a nice place anyway!
It's going to be like Scooby Doo and Withnail and I rolled into one. I can't wait!

Also, in the Scooby Doo style, it might make sense to split up and "report back".
We've got 5-6 possible suggestions right? (REDMOON's code, Martyr's Monument's post from a while back, EH39?, and a couple of others) So different groups can check them out, see if it looks like anything's going on a each location and feedback?
If you've got a GPS unit, I imagine it could be very useful, so bring them along!
What do people think?

reporting back on the wiki idea sounds good... (what's the link to that?) any US travellers may not have compatible cell phones for sms...? might be easier to update on-line. any other ideas?

Does anyone else think this is absolutely insane? I'm as big a boc fan as the next guy here, but dropping $1,500 on a plane ticket to Scotland for an event that may or may not happen seems pretty crazy. Especially since the Redmoon code has since been taken down. The exact location and time hasn't even been figured out yet. Nothing was ever officially announced, and you guys are just gonna take your chances? I'm directing this more toward people in the states, cause that's a long way to go and a lot of money to spend on an internet rumor. I really hope though, for your sake that it does happen. I'd love to get a recording of the gig. (if there is one)
The funny thing is that I actually have more than enough money to go, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something will get announced from Warp or Boc. I would love to see them play the U.S. or even Canada. I just hope they give the rest of the world a chance. This is me being my pessimistic self, so sorry for dragging everyone down but I'm just trying to think logicially. Oh yeah, and I hope you guys remember your passports. Godspeed people...
