Liars at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood. These guys are for real. Last weekend was the third time I've seen them play, the first of which was in 2006 on the heels of Drum's Not Dead, at the height of their powers, and included an encore cover of Nirvana's "Territorial Pissings." So cool.

On the latest occasion they focused primarily on their latest album, WIXIW, which has been garnering rave reviews and comparisons to Kid A. The new tunes sounded brilliant in the live setting.

For those unfamiliar with the band, either their first or perhaps their latest album might be the most easily accessible--but I prefer Drum's Not Dead, They Were Wrong So We Drowned, and Sisterworld.

Hmmm, I've never heard of Liars. Sounds like I'll have to change this...

In regards to Territorial Pissings, take this from a huge fan of Nirvana: nothing can ever top this performance.

Saw Roger Waters last night. Going to see America (..the band) tonight and my own show is next Thursday. It hasn't been a bad couple of weeks to be my ears, I'd say.

Saw A Winged Victory for the Sullen last night in New York, stunning show. First time I've seen anything like that live, the only concerts I ever get to see are rock shows

It's gonna be hard to top that one. They did some stuff that's not on the record, including a brilliant version of Gavin Bryars' "Jesus' Blood." Also got there early enough to get a seat an arms length away from Adam Wiltzie, which was fantastic. Missed a perfectly good opportunity to meet him, but I probably would have gushed like a pre-teen girl had that gone down, so it's not a total loss.

Just saw the Antlers in Rochester. I've never seen such a soulful rock show before. Went out for a coffee after the show and, while walking back to the car, ran in to the band loading up in to their van. Got to briefly meet them. It was a good day.

Dublabs 13th anniversary show in Los Angeles this past weekend. saw Dntel, Teebs, Matthew Dear, Peanut Butter Wolf, Gaslamp Killer, and Daedelus... Pretty good show.

Amon Tobin ISAM 2.0 in Dallas. I'm still speechless.

Shigeto and Seams in Berlin. Total euphoria from start till end.

Not "recently seen", but "coming up soon"* - off to see Spiritualized, one of my favourite bands, at the Sage in Gateshead, one of my favourite venues, in a couple of weeks. Can. Not. Wait.*




* - forgive my excitement, but I'm a parent now; I go out about 3 times a year.

seen ISAM at Bloc in London, it's insane in reality, although I much prefer his older music to be be honest. MF Doom followed him then the festival got shut down unfortunately. Was looking forward to seeing alot more acts. Flying Lotus did a set the following night though which was well good.

Attended Primus's 3D tour at the orpheum in boston... it was fucking unbelievable

I also ate a gram of REALLY potent mushrooms and was tripping way harder than I thought I would... it certainly enhanced the show and the show in turn enhanced the trip significantly. Primus is not always the most relaxing or upbeat music around so it certainly made for an intense experience-it was like being in a wacky mirror funhouse that at times was nightmarish/crazy and at other times mystical and enchanting... of course with les claypool as my tour guide through the craziness. And staring at 3d fractal visuals while tripping has to be one of the most amazing things ever.
