I've just noticed the Steam Summer Sale.
Holy crap, some stuff there is cheap.
I'm considering paying the 2 (approx) pounds to replay Longest Journey without the need to borrow a copy from my sister and bother with the hassle of replacing disks and stuff.

Anyone here a fan of the original "X-Com enemy unkown game"? If so, will you be purchasing the remake on the PS3?
I played the PS3 demo and I thought it sucked ass but Id like to know if the full game is worth buying.

Are you referring to Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, or Metal Gear: Ground Zeros?

I have been playing Baldur's Gate for the past month or so, getting killed a whole lot by wolves.

I've been playing Dead Rising: Off The Record for the past few months. I'm currently trying to complete the six digits achievement (100,000 zombie kill count), I'm at about 40,000+ right now.

Just finished assassins creed 3 by accident. Game said 51% complete , so i went to do a main storyline mission , not realising it was the last one.
Lots to like , but very buggy. Inwas able to stand in a horse and look like a centaur. Also , someone thought it was a greatidea to have the main character ( connor ) have a red indian conversation with his friend , so no-one could understand it without subtitles.
So.......some bright spark thinks it would be a great idea to have white subtitles on a white background

Tomorrow's a decent day for gaming. New Skyrim DLC (don't know if anyone plays that game) and Far Cry 3 come out.
Too bad I don't have any expendable funds haha, let alone the time to actually play them. It's a nice thought, though.

The Oculus Rift VR HD Headset will be playable with Half Life 2. Holy crap, this will be fantastic.

So far the headset is getting unbelievably good reviews and its still in development. Finally an excellent virtual reality implementation for the home.. My dreams when I were a kid are coming true.

Finished
Bioshock: Infinite on 1999 mode. So good even on a second playthrough.
Just started that DLC for
Dishonored; I am pleased to see that the first mission kicks off with a quite
Thief-esque introductory monologue / animation thing.

Loving all of the xbox live arcade games at the mo, just introduced Monkey Island Special Edition to my son (addicted!) and spent the weekend completing it. Trials HD is also currently getting rinsed out and so tempted to get Far Cry Blood Dragon just for pure the 80's retroness and synth soundtrack

Right now playing this like a madman. Its really AMAZING. Its so much up my alley its scary.
I almost gave up on new games again till this thing hit the scene. Its an arcade FPS with those roguelike elements people (myself included) like so much. Stylish as fuck, pink like me.
Its kind of like spelunky meets killer7 meets quake3 instagib with a little dangerous dave's haunted mansion thrown in. Soundtrack by anticon daddy-o Dose-One, who you may know from clouddead (if you don't, be ashamed). Its also really fucking hard, but in the good way.
Trust me, try it for 60 seconds!

Just wondering, does anyone have any recommendations for games on the PS Vita? My gf bought me a Vita back in December but im struggling for inspiration on what games to buy, nothing seems to interest me in the PS store :-/
A good RTS would be nice but I don't think there are any?

Just finished a run of Mass Effect 1 and 2 once again, and now a couple hours into ME3 I've remembered why I told my self I'd never bother again. The third game just sucks, everything is fucking cringe-y hollywood, there is little to no player agency any more, entire conversations being carried out without my input, not to mention the bullshit ending. There are parts to like about it, but I just can't bring my self to play it for them.
Looking back they made a serious misstep with ME2. It was a great game regardless, but was unnecessarily dark and 'super-serious' almost constantly. Plus they just side-stepped the main plot of the series to give you an excuse to go around the galaxy meeting a bunch of useless albeit interesting characters, which ruined the pacing from then-on.
I can still play ME2 because they retained enough of what I loved about the first game, but the third makes me angry. I can't play it because I'm constantly taking a step back and going 'why did they do that?', 'why can't I choose what to say here? This isn't my character anymore', 'that makes no sense', 'this was obviously shoe-horned in and has no real place or purpose'.
Mostly I am this angry and was this angry when it was released because I've never been quite so invested in any other game series, emotionally or financially. They missed a golden opportunity to create a mind-blowing trilogy, what the fuck happened?

I'm glad it's not just me who preferred the first Mass Effect to the sequels. In my case I put it down to enjoying the almost throwaway "lunar rover" missions, that I loved and reminded me of playing an old Atari 8-bit game called Koronis Rift. That game definitely had a unique atmosphere.

Ditto.
I too enjoyed the Mako exploration stuff, though after the first 10 or 15 times it wore its welcome. Funny that a part of the game which was produced very cheaply to save on time and money (using bump maps to model the terrain, instead of hand modelling), still ended up being immersive.
I think I just get the sense with ME1 that they had strong ideas for it, in every aspect. Then someone *cough* EA *cough* decided they should throw away whatever they were planning for the sequels and start fresh with special demographically engineered sauce.
I need to replay KOTOR just to satisfy my need for character focused rpgness.
