Eyo!

Yesterday I was making textures for a Stars Of The Lid/Grouper inspired track I'm going to be doing with a friend and made a few little vignettes while I was at it. Pretty BoCish so they may be up your alley:

Been listening to Bonobo's Late Night Tales compilation and got inspired to do something with a more after hours vibe. I've been making field recordings and sampling pretty heavily the last six months. I've been using these sounds as percussion sources lately but also cutting up sound and key mapping it to a sampler to use as an instrument. Even the sound of my car cooling off made it into this track. The piano isn't sampled though, that I played. This one is a free download through Christmas day.

actually I hope you take this the right way. I'm so tired from a crazy 4 day work stretch and too overexhausted to sleep so I might not come off the way intended. I really dug this but found the percussive part distracting.. and that was it. I mean seriously I could totally hear a guy singing with a doubling of the vocal line with one panned left and the other right and it sounds like it belongs on an album.

I appreciate the advice/criticism but unfortunately at this point it's beyond editing. The drums and guitar tracks are already mastered to a tape and so I don't have the original files... there will be an album soon though

The result of a good 5 hours of work for 4 days in a row. Still needs mastering/mixing/ touchups on fx and all that, but I'm really proud of it.

Man, if this is what you do quickly, I'd love to hear what you can do with a lot of time! Man, this is excellent! It's certainly a bit more calming and relaxed compared to your EP (In terms of compositions and chordal stuff), and I really like it. Keep it up man!

Thanks man, just re-uploaded a new version. Alex suggesed I add some sub bass and it was a good call on his part I think, so thanks Alex if you're reading this ;) I also added a few other small elements.

The album is due out Jan 6th and I put a lot more effort into it than the EP. Learning as you go and all that. The 11 tracks are up on Soundcloud, the ones after the EP, but not in the intended order they will be for the release. I'll think you'll find it's not as calming as you might have imagined, there's a couple fairly upbeat tracks in there too ;)

Cheers though man, and keep up the good work yourself :)

great I'm looking forward to it. Have you thought about adding some vocal or singing on your own tracks at all?

Jammed this one out and I'm feelin good about it. Still needs some work composition-wise, but I'm just glad it came to me so fast and that I was able to jam it out so quickly.

I'm no longer part of Architects + Heroes Records. So I'm starting a new cassette label called Bonding Tapes which will focus on Instrumental Hip Hop, Vapor/Chillwave, Juke, stuff like that. So far the only thing I have up is a tumblr blog although i'm just reblogging stuff until I have content: http://bonding-tapes.tumblr.com/

Released today, 01.08.14, through the Weakie Discs label out of Poland, on physical floppy disk, the "IS?" EP is an interesting alternative experiment. It serves as a precursor to the upcoming IS8 album "Припять 1970" which is a concept album about the abandoned city of Pripyat, and is to be released on 04.26.14 (the 28th aniversary of the Chernobyl disaster) to bring awareness to the problems associated with nuclear power. In-line with this concept, "IS?" has been appropriately released on the nostalgic floppy disk technology of the 80's and 90's, which captures the 4 tracks in all of their 349kb lo-fi glory, further alluding to the illusion that radiation has melted the tracks. The digital download includes both lo-fi versions (as they appear on the Floppy Disk) and the original high quality studio versions. To purchase the physical floppy disk, visit: weakiediscs.bandcamp.com/album/is
