Yes, I checked all around the sleeve and the outside of the actual tape.qualia wrote:This might be a stupid question, but has anyone actually looked/felt around inside the VHS sleeve?
Based on what we've been able to put together so far from the audio, it definitely mentions a hexagon-shaped flexi-disc, at least included in each issue of the magazine being advertised. I'm fairly sure it says "bound to each cover," which makes more sense for a magazine than a video tape. (And it'd have to be a very small flexi-disc to fit inside a VHS sleeve.) Still, figured it couldn't hurt to check.
The sleeve is plain black and there’s nothing at all on the inner part.
The only thing on the outside of the tape itself is the white hexagon pattern and what presume to be some manufacturing or batch numbers. Extremely minimal.

It makes sense to me why they would blast this out to more people than necessary. Like you said, only a small portion of those who received tapes have been able to upload them. They would know there is a chance that any given address they send a tape to could be a dud.Davism wrote:I wonder if the tapes are just about getting the buzz started and not about relaying any message or instructions that lead tot he next step? How many tapes discovered so far, 10? How many uploaded, 2? If all the videos on the tapes are the same, I don't quite see the point to giving them out other than creating excitement (which I love!).
The most interesting thread I would like to see pulled is from the VHS that seemingly has more tape than the rest. What do we know about that one yet? Has the recipient done anything other than post their initial picture?

I wonder what else, if anything, all of these people have in common?
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Nothing else has been posted about the (seemingly) longer tape. But to your point, if that tape is purposely longer and contains more content, then I would think more than one longer tape would've been sent.HappyCyclist wrote:It makes sense to me why they would blast this out to more people than necessary. If they intended for the tapes to drum up interest they've certainly succeeded. I'm now wondering about momentum in the excitement they've created. If all the tapes are identical, I feel like we've already reached the apex of the excitement surrounding them. Do they (Warp, BoC, etc) intend to wait a couple of days until the next 'clue' is released? Weeks? The TH ARG had a fairly consistent build up of clues, spanning a little more than a week.

There are a ton of Record Day stores here in Washington. Unfortunately, only three are near enough to me to check (I refuse to go to Seattle for reasons) and only one of those three is really close to me. If I have time that day, I'll look. If any of you live in Seattle, there are twenty-eight different stores for you to visit. Happy hunting!

I think there has been a second tape that appears to have similarly larger amounts of tape?Vostok wrote:Nothing else has been posted about the (seemingly) longer tape. Did you check for anything when you flip open the tape? Maybe inscribed into the hinged tape end?SamuraiDrifter wrote:Yes, I checked all around the sleeve and the outside of the actual tape.qualia wrote:This might be a stupid question, but has anyone actually looked/felt around inside the VHS sleeve?

I didn’t know that. Well, like I said, this is the most interesting thread I see to pull. Though not much we can do to actually pull it…HerbTurkey wrote:I think there has been a second tape that appears to have similarly larger amounts of tape?

I definitely agree. Hope it leads to more! Though I wouldn’t be shocked if it also turns out to be extended empty film for some reason

Was thinking about it earlier and came on to post more or less the same point as this.
Maybe it won't be anywhere near as cryptic as TH in 2013.
They've created a buzz with these tapes already and clearly it's legit. I guess all that is needed is a release date but tbh I don't really mind when it is, I'm just so happy it's actually happening.
...but the pic of the tape with the longer reel is definitely casting doubt in this theory.
ps. I really don't think BoC will release old material in the form of a BOCset or whatever.

Sorry if already said...
Has anyone played with the tracking of the tapes as the lines at the bottom may have something hidden

To address some of the comments and questions people have raised, and provide additional details:
I have made BoC purchases from Bleep over the years, including the new designs when the last merch drop happened last year. My presumption is that’s how they selected at least SOME of the recipients.
There was no flexi disc included as far as I can tell.
There was no NDA or anything similar, the only “warning” was the one in the video itself, which I assume is meant ironically.
As far as I can tell, the content of my tape is the same as what’s been shared so far.
One of the first things I did once I opened the package (after making sure the write-protect tab was popped!) was to look at everything with a UV light: I didn’t see anything on the tape, the sleeve, or the packing envelope.
I manually flipped up the “cover” that exposes the tape, there was nothing there, either.
The send date for my tape was 02.04.2026, April 2nd, same as the others. I received it on april 7th, which to me seems AMAZING for international shipping, getting through customs, and the present wretched state of the USPS. (No criticism of the employees intended, the agency has just been starved.)
The sender is Andy Robinson, same name as the actor who played the serial killer in Dirty Harry (probably a coincidence.)
The case IS held together with screws, but I don’t think I want to risk opening it until I can make a maximum quality rip, if even then. If someone else reliably confirms something noteworthy was found inside one of the other tapes, I may reconsider.
A friend of mine who has professional video experience was working with me last night to make a digital capture. We noted that the tape ran for several minutes past the point the content apparently ended. We noted that the imagery is slightly smaller than the video frame, there’s a small black border around it.
We’re going to work to get the best possible capture we can, but I’m happy to share what I have so far. I’m going to drop it to rareboc this evening. If anyone else has a dropbox and can help distribute, please message me the address.
The spine of the tape has an NTSC sticker, and we were able to play it on an NTSC VHS player. The markings “E 15 SHG”, “BC”, and “201205” are also printed on the spine in a dot+matrix format.
Top of the tape has the hexagon pattern and embossed into the top of the protective tape cover is “Insert this side into the recorder (arrow) Do not touch the tape inside”.
On the underside of the tape, there is a circular recess along the center line horizontally, and vertically it’s about midway between the reels and the hinged cover. At the bottom of that recess,

Thank for very much for the detailed breakdown of the physical tape as well as the work you've been doing with your friend to rip it! Certainly looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor and appreciate it greatly!Skyraider wrote:To address some of the comments and questions people have raised, and provide additional details!

Interesting details, thank you for sharing! For the most part E15 (15 minute) tapes have been distributed, it would be great to see what the tape codes are for the longer ones.Skyraider wrote:To address some of the comments and questions people have raised, and provide additional details!

Wow, great comments all around on page 121!
One more thing: the Artemis 2 was officially established as part of the Artemis program in 2017. The mission to the moon has been formally in development for about 9 years. The Pioneer Plaque popped in 2020, right? The man on their "plaque" is holding a turquoise hexagon "disk." The VHS video references a hexagon disk, right? All of this was possibly planned over 7 years ago, which is hard fathom (for me). It's truly impressive how they've had the patience to sit on this for so long. Makes me feel this will truly be monumental.
So yeah, I still feel this will be space themed, and maybe it intersects with man's search for God? Some sort of manifest destiny perhaps?

Yeah I vaguely remember having E-180 SHG tapes - I think SHG might have stood for Super High Grade or something. I don't think it's worth unscrewing it tbh - I don't think you'd find anything

nice catch. come to think of it, the crew were furthest from Earth on April 6th which was the Pioneer 11 launch. cool synchronicities.Davism wrote:the Artemis 2 was officially established as part of the Artemis program in 2017.
