Run Lola Run (1998)

The story follows three attempts, largely in real time, by Lola (Potente) to get the 100,000 deutschmarks needed to save her boyfriend's life. Tykwer basically riffs on the same concept three times, ratcheting up the tension and building up the pace with each attempt as the flame-haired Lola uses increasingly inventive means of getting ahead. An object lesson in how to shoot at speed, this smashes the stereotype of the talky, heavy European indie.

I did see it.

Here's the deal: it's not (strictly speaking) a GOOD movie. It is good if you like Philip Dick and Linklater and rotoscoping. But if you haven't read the book, all I can say is, good luck trying to comprehend that film.

It was kind of like the Trans-Canada Highway of films for this summer. If you like BoC, you'll probably like Trans-Canada, but it won't go down in history as a great moment in electronic music history. Neither will Scanner do so for film.

It's really too bad. I actually had high hopes for this summer. But.. pirates bombed.. nacho bombed... xmen 3 was just ok...and scanner left much to be desired.

The best movie I've seen in a while was Big Lewbowski.. but that didn't come out this summer.

Oh.. and Everything is Illuminated was beautiful.

Well i'm a Phillip K. Dick fan so i can't wait to see "A Scanner Darkley".

I saw Saw yesterday night. One of the better horror flicks from the past years I think.

I thought the plot and story were really great. however the acting was so so... still a good horror movie though

Yesterday we had "Total Recall" on television here, also based on a short story from Phillip K.Dick, i used to like that movie alot but eversince "Arnie" made it to governor in the US i dislike all the movies he's in and don't watch.

It's ok that you missed it. It's Dick interepreted in the most visceral, simplistic way you possibly could. (read: it's not Dick story anyway).

There's some crazy violence in that film, though.

I've seen that movie before and i liked it, but i can't stand Arnold Shwarzenegger since he became governer of California.
