Seven Forty Seven is top 5 for me, definitely. Only on good headphones though. If the sound isn't going directly into my ear, it gets jumbled in a tidal wave of noise.

i think you can say that for any boards of canada song. headphones are the way to go with all of their music.

This thread makes me wanna call sick from work for one week just to dig down deep the BoC archive...wish it was winter though, nothing compares to listen to BoC in a snowy winter night.

My favorite track is "Oscar See Through Red Eye," hands down. "Alpha and Omega" and "Telephasic Workshop" occupy a second tier of favorites.

I'm a bit surprised this particular track hasn't been mentioned more on this thread. It's difficult for me to articulate how much "Oscar" means to me--it has served as the soundtrack to an incalculable array of personal experiences, from fireworks displays to long walks to the peaks of psychedelic euphoria to more private interpersonal encounters.

I think what amazes me most about this song is how fresh and vibrant it remains to my ears despite the thousands of times I've heard it; each listen divulges some new small miracle of detail, enriching a tapestry of sound that never ceases to move me, no matter where my head and heart might be at that particular moment.

The moments that really get me:
-The way the chord progression fades in at the beginning, like it's something that was and will always be present, and we have momentarily been granted access to it
-The hiss at 1:19 that ushers in a new measure
-The heavily treated guitar (?) hook that begins at 2:08--it sounds so fragile yet beautiful as it ripples through the melody, employing the ever-subtle pitch shifts BoC have mastered, and the sublime little flourish that joins it at the 2:30 mark
-the breakdown at 3:12 that resolves itself in a whirlwind of kaleidoscopic revelry
-I love how the melody swells to the point of breaking just before it begins its departure--when the track ends, I feel like I've lost a dear friend for a moment (I get the same effect from "The Daughters of Quiet Minds" by Stars of the Lid and "Untitled 5" by Sigur Ros, which similarly conclude with poignant melodic flourishes) until, of course, I remember the << button on my player.

Pete Standing Alone has always been my favourite.

Sixtyniner is soooo damn good - the BoC Maxima version is a bit abrasive in the drums, I love it.

lately I cant get enough of the Telephasic Workshop-Triangles & Rhombuses-Sixtyten sequence on MHRTC.

This thread really does just make my BoCbuds tingle with all that 'freshness' feeling I associate with their music; all the colours, sounds and memories.

It's likely that I've already previously posted in this thread, I'll do a search in a minute- but I thought it would be more interesting to answer now on how I feel right now, and see if it changes with anything I may have said previously...

First-up, my top all-time BoC song has to be Kid For Today. For me, this track best encapsulates the feeling of what I most strongly associate with BoC. Fresh, analogue, winding, organic.

I'm also a huge fan of In a Beautiful Place out in the Country, Slow This Bird Down and Kaini Industries.

On top of this, I'd tip You Could Feel the Sky as being a real artistic high-point. To me, this track sounds like a hallucination. I can see/taste/experience that red and yellow of the Geogaddi cover within this textures, and feverishly experience this vivid hallucinatory moment of intensity. Geogaddi was described as something of a Trial By Fire of an album, and I'd say that You Could Feel the Sky is a moment in the trial that is the emergence to clarity through the weirdest textures - and after the most intense apex of the story/album/trial. It's like a moment of clarity intertwined with hallucinatory intensity.

You're not alone brother, this is a favorite of mine as well. Up there with Julie and Candy, 1969 and '84 Pontiac Dream as being my favorites... off of that album.

Hard to say what's my favourite. Depends on the day and my mood, I suppose. But definitely near the top is their remix of 'Dead Dogs Two'. Amazing track. Wish there was an instrumental version available.
