Reading through this thread, I'm surprised how many people here were seemingly unaware that at least one of tracks in question is a known fake from
this upload - I recognised the Focus on the Spiral stand-in straight away, but apparently lot of people didn't.
Maybe people haven't devoted enough time to scouring their purported back catalogue after all

I don't mind admitting that I haven't heard the majority of the fakes

^This.
I'm more likely to listen to somebodies work if they post it honestly in the relevant forum section. I don't listen to fakes, though I realise I'm in the minority.

Not even to see if it is actually fake or would you just take the word of the first person to call it fake?

Yeah That's Right wrote:What no one cares that re-phaelam-ed actually knows the guy who created that track so infamously used as a fake stand in for Focus On the Spiral? I think that's pretty cool! Strange but interesting track, it was obvious from the start it wasn't anything by BoC - apart from anything else, the use of goat samples sounded like nothing Boards have done ever. But it's pretty funny, if not slightly disconcerting.
ya he's super good! and to be clear...he had nothing to do with hoax tape. he passed out some tunes a WHILE back. and it kinda lame that someone would use someone else's music as part of a hoax.
i semi remember those tracks audiotrack posted. that v of focus on a spiral sounds like it could be it

Yeah. Somehow that specific fake got compiled some time ago and it's been circulating and doing the rounds ever since. Some people are very stubborn at trying to push it as the real thing. Numerator Original is a fan remix of Roygbiv right? It's quite unfair that these tracks have been given a reputation of being 'fakes' and brushed off by so many potential fans rather than simply being heard in their original format.
Those purported tracks of Focus on the Spiral and Close 3 are really interesting. As with any tracks that show up, they could be legitimate until proven otherwise. I would suspect that someone who's been around long enough might be able to give an answer on this, but maybe their authenticity has never been resolved.

I happen to know that this one is called Eno Test and it's not by BoC, but Marumari, supposedly - although they've never confirmed this or something.
It's labelled as many different things on youtube, for example:
Great track actually, I really like this one. Unfortunately it's not from Closes Vol. 1 though.

yeah, this ones a rather well known fake. was this found in the same folder as the other two? cause that would suggest that they are indeed fake, as well.

No, i came across it more recently. But in any case it hasn't been confirmed as fake, only assumed to be fake since it was thought to be by Marumari.

there are two by marumari Eno Test and Parson. those popped up
way back in the audiogalaxy days [pre soulseek]. they were never listed as BoC. they WERE however listed as
Marumari & BoC. but i dont think thats legit. its never been confirmed

There is nothing anywhere that confirms Marumari with this track, its only an assumption.
It may well not be anything to do with BOC either which puts it as 'unknown' as far as i can tell.
I don't even think the title has been confirmed as 'eno-test' unless i am mistaken.
