There is a playlist on the Missing Tracks Archive channel, which contained 45 tracks earlier and 2 hidden ones. It now contains 61 tracks and 4 hidden ones.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3Y2Db ... /playlists

I've had my doubts but through out I've been mostly inclined to believe that this could be Boards of Canada. Perhaps they're having a clear out - like Aphex Twin did a few years ago.

What's odd to me is that comments are disabled and the description of this new upload links back to the VHS Tape re-upload. Additionally the first tag used on this new upload has the exact same text as the title of the VHS Tape re-upload. Color me puzzled.

We color you lots of things! excited, puzzled ect

Are we ever going to get an end to this ARG or are these supposed "outtakes" a continuation?
Seems like someone wants us to perceive this to be more than a fan project. :?

Already downloaded and have it loaded into my playlist for the day. Luckily, today is mostly driving for work.

I wish I could be online longer because it looks like so much more activity.

It's 4/20 and I don't expect a new BOC box set and for the brothers to do a video interview started that they are behind all of this VHS music. ;)

This is an awful lot of good tracks for a fan project. Either way it’s great to have some new tunes to add to the rotation. Wish I knew who the artist was.

Same!
This one, Desfax, and Clayton.
I want to know if they're one person, many people, etc.

I'm committing myself to the following statement, and I'm not changing my mind until something definitely proves I'm absolutely wrong:

This is BOC.
It is early versions of music they eventually mastered and released.

In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country - 20:07

Perhaps they're even messing with ideas for the intro at 19:07 for IABPOITC or Everything You Do Is a Balloon.

The interlude at is gorgeous, and truly sounds like they were already mastering the craft of these interludes, which I believe they've acknowledged they've made TONS of, but I don't have a quote on that.

I believe this is the beginning of the eventual Dayvan Cowboy:

I don't recall what song this is, but I know it's BOC, and here it is in it's beginning stages:

is absolutely fucking beautiful, with tension as it rolls over you. It sounds SO familiar! Even more so when the speed is increased, or doubled. I just can't think of which tune it is.

Okay, that's enough. Basically, I'm saying that they are all songs we know and have heard in some form or another. They are different versions, perhaps earlier versions, or perhaps scraps or versions that didn't make the cut.

Either way, I want to repeat that I believe that this music is made by Boards of Canada.

I hope I didn't go overboard with the bold, italics, and underlining. It's just that I rarely get to use this website on anything other than my shitty phone. This is so much better, so much easier.

This is BOC
I wanted to post this in the Gen Spec thread but I knew I'd get shredded. But I think it's safe to tuck this in here.

Not much. Just claiming that all of the VHS tape music IS Boards of Canada.
Thinking on it more, I feel like maybe even them "liking" things on Twitter or wherever, isn't to say that something new is coming from the label. Maybe it's saying something new is coming like this tape.

Whatever it is, after listening to this Missing Tracks thing, I'm going on the record to say that I am convinced it is BOC...very early BOC.

Despite what the so-called “experts” here on this forum say (lol), I’ve stated that this sounds extremely legitimate to my ears in eerily matching the same musical style as the Old Tunes era tracks right down to the instrumentation. Not saying it is BOC, but the music is hitting all the right feels.

Cheers, I also have had several moments listening to this today that felt uncanny (for lack of a better word)

This music feels familiar, I don't know how else to describe it.

I believe this is the beginning of the eventual Dayvan Cowboy:
The official dayvan cowboy vid has a surfing motif as well

I absolutely agree with both of you, Brendan Standing Alone and karpeggi!

There is something about it.
I can't really wrap my brain around why anyone would go to these great lengths to imitate something that has, thus far, never been known to have existed or how they created this without having knowledge that we, the collective, don't have.

This, as well as all the feelings it gives, makes me believe.
It's also really fucking good, no matter what.

This whole ordeal has seemed to grab the attention of quite a few normies with the goofy story and thumbnail, too. If the original VHS Tape views climb at the rate that they're climbing right now, I guarantee that re-upload will have 1m views by Mid-May/June.

How were the old tunes volumes and random 35 track tape recordings found?

I wonder if there are any similarities between then and now?
