Not so much a track but I just received the MFB Dominion 1 finally after waiting in a queue for about 3 months.
And Wow. The resonance on this thing is really as good as I've ever heard. I have a real love for the SH101 resonance and I opened it up all the way and compared it to the Dominion 1. They are slightly different flavors but I couldn't pick one. They both just sound equally fantastic to me.

I recorded this which is just messing with three knobs only, the Cutoff, the Resonance and the Filter settings of LP 1-4, BP 1-4, HP 1-2 and NO 1-2. Any sudden clicks or shifts you hear is me turning the knob on the Filter selection. There is a slight delay and reverb from the eventide H8000. So far I'm very impressed with the sound and the build (yes the sliders were a bit wobbly and that is the only thing I found that could be criticized in anyway so far)

I just looked up the price and oh dear lord, there's no way I can afford that. Oh well. I can do without it i guess. Cuz it's either: buy one and go without food for a while, or have food and play around with free/cheap vsts. I won't achieve a sound like the Dominion 1, but I bet I can come somewhat close.

That was a cool little snippet of sound though. I like the first minute or so the best, because I'm a sucker for 80's sounds.

Now I'mma go make some tunes. You got me going and I want to bring this energy into Ableton now. So thanks for that.

I saved for months and months. It came to 1350 US. And I managed to save a couple hundred here and there. I think it took 6 months of saving and 2.5 months of being wait listed. The next one is gonna bite more as it will be about 800 more than this one and then I'm cutting myself off for a while. The dominion has a very authentic late 70s sound and look. In fact I've never heard a more vintage sounding modern synth yet it doesn't sound exactly like anything else. I'm crazy about it. Also I'm filming some demos this weekend tho I'm Having a hard time with the video export in Ableton which I've never used before.

Once I'm finished saving up for what I'm currently saving up for, I think this may make it on the list of things to save up for afterwards.
Once you figure out and record some videos, I'd love to see/hear them.

When I hear psychedelic music I expect to be grabbed by the sounds in a way that places me somewhere else. This was not bad. That said, none of the sounds grabbed me like I was hoping. I'm not saying it's not psychedelic at all, but if you're like me and love psychedelic music to death, it could really benefit from some strong effects to make it more so. There are a number of ways to make a song psychedelic, but I find strong effects really do the trick well. I mean it'll add a whole 'nother level of psychedelia if you drown that organ in reverb, and I mean really drown it, lots of space and lots of decay time and make it way more wet than dry. And maybe add an offbeat delay or echo on the drums to give them a little more complexity. Especially if you cut the echo on and off throughout the song. Maybe even reverb on the drums too, but with just a really tiny bit of space, but lots of decay time. That way it compliments the organ's reverb with a bit of contrast. Or maybe even better, if you wanna try something other than reverb on the drums, try playing around with a flange effect at a low frequency that matches the time signature.

Of coarse if the song is just how you want it to be, please don't be bothered by what I said. I have no right to tell you how to make your own music. And I'm not saying the song was bad, I'm just sharing my thoughts on how I would try making it more psychedelic.

I have plenty of music like you've described and more and I'm trying to rely less on effects (though that song is slathered in them). You might like this one. It's all guitars.
With Canopy I was going for more of a psychedelic electropop song. I've just done so much stuff that's effects driven it's not fun anymore.

Ah ya. That's some really cool stuff. I do indeed like it, quite a lot actually. And I wholeheartedly agree that making music should be fun. So doing what you can to keep it fun is absolutely understandable. I don't know if I'll ever get tired of playing around with effects as much as I do, but I might. Who knows.
Canopy was the first song of yours that I heard. I had no idea of your experience. And judging by the songs in your album "Atlas", you definitely have a lot of solid experience with effects and a great understanding of them. It's just really well done so far. I'm not all the way through the album yet, but I'm damn sure I'm finishing the listen. This is really my cup of tea. Thanks for the link.

Rodheh, I like it just the way it is. Very soft and soothing. did you record the song and then slow it down? or is this pure synth work? Either way, I like it. With this type of song style it can be really easy to get stuck in our minds. Cause we can lose focus thinking that we can improve it in some way, when really, it sometimes doesn't need to be improved. So look back at your original goal for the song. Is it not the atmosphere/sound you were aiming for? A song can always be picked at and improved in some way. The trick is knowing when to be happy with it. Absolutely every artist struggles with that.

Lyst, that was really nice. Is that your voice throughout? Regardless, some nice work. The way it was sung and the work done with it afterwards was really psychedelic. It has a great vibe the whole way through.

The majority of that was my voice yes, about 90% of it-- None of it was samples. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Took an Interview I've read by an electronic musician recently's advice with this one and slept on the song. Gave it time and kept coming back to it to find new things.
