I agree, but with the wait some new material along with the old tunes would be more appreciated.

Old Tunes be damned, I want more XYZ, Warp10 track 8, and Lighthouse Party track 3 style songs

Maybe they are busy broadcasting new versions of Magic Window everywhere around the planet to promote their new album and we are just not listening hard enough ..and that facebook-thingy posted doesn't really give any promises that the release is near or anything..they just have good sense of humor I guess! :)

I'd like a quality release of the old tunes, but yes, please put one or two entirely new songs on there

New tracks or bust! There's a reason why most of the tracks from AFOT etc. never surfaced...

i'd rather have old tunes than new album full of TCH songwriting void. this time with kazoos instead of guitars and even less substance. 6.9 on pitchfork. cult following 20 years later when there is no substance in music at all, just sinewaves.

I'm starting to believe they're releasing music under an alias and we don't know who they are. It seems like they've abandoned Boards Of Canada.

WARP announced the new Plaid album on Aug 8th
By the 5th of Sept it was already on bleep (a whole 3 weeks earlier than the physical release, which is the 26th of Sept)

I'm not very optimistic at this point, but with almost 4 months left in the year it still could happen. Announce it in mid October, by mid Nov release it on bleep, by early Dec release the physical versions.

plaid's album was announced in 2010 with title and everything, so different case.

Its weird

I cant really imagine a world where BoC are releasing material, because I became a fan RIGHT after Trans Canada.

like, what else am I going to have to look forward to in life?

Same here 100%. I wouldn't even know what to do if they released an album, like those kids raised by coyotes when they are given a chair to sit in.

I agree with having more new material over a boxset, unless they're gonna redo the old tracks.
Most of the old tracks were way too long for their own good, I mean they were good, but it was the same melodies and stuff looped in and out for about 5 minutes, not like the tracks they have on their albums which constantly shift.

It's like that movie Groundhog Day around here. The ratio of of wool to eyeballs is astoundingly close to 1:1.

apriorion wrote:I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but they've apparently updated the youtube playlist so that another Old Tunes track is at the top. This time, it's Katelslaughing's video for "Buckie High". Before, their top video was DDRpwner's video for "5.9.78". The two videos after that are that live version of "Julie and Candy" with the official visuals and the official "Dayvan Cowboy". The fact that those two Old Tunes tracks are above the two official videos seems suggestive to me. At least, I'm hoping that they are hinting that the BoCset is coming soon. In any event, it is interesting that this youtube channel is acknowledging what are basically bootlegs.
