I was an English major in college, so this track is going to drive me insane for a while.

At 4:17 into this looks like there might be a faint nuclear explosion behind the album cover that gets brighter. Then there's a series of faint horizontal ripples.



Is it just distortion from compression or something? Am I going mad? I am quite drunk tbf.

Cannot wait for the new album, mildly incredulous that it's coming out so soon. If BOC do peruse this forum, I just want to say cheers for the best music and some of the more memorable experiences of my life. Went to a Muse concert as a teen in '05 but it wasn't their music I remember most, it was hearing Dayvan Cowboy on the radio during the trip home. Changed my music taste forever. Can't wait to see what they bring out now.

What a day. Was busy with stuff while this was going down so couldn't fully soak it in while it was happening. But at last we have it in reach. I'm pleased that the cover has true spatial and perspectival depth to it. Their music has always suggested wide open vistas to me - an invitational space waiting to be explored and subsequently lost in. Hope its a sunny day when this is out, cause I'm goin for a walkabout.

Could someone hook me up with that mp3? I would love to make a little mini album out of them.

Me and another poster referred to this already a couple of pages back, but don't you guys think that some of the track titles are a bit strange for a Boards Of Canada record?

"Nothing Is Real"

BoC have a tendency to use far more cryptic titles, such as "Jacquard Causeway" for example. The ones listed above seem a bit strange, as in too concrete and too down to earth, among the titles of the rest of their discography. These almost sound like titles used by beginning musician. I don't mean to be pejorative, I am as psyched as everyone about this, but I just noticed that it's a strange contrast.

Well these are different times and who knows what kind of message their trying to get across. They've definitely thought the track titles through of course. This album has a very Terminator 2 feel to it. Sick Times.

Ha. Looks like those of us who predicted an apocalyptic theme for the new record were correct.

Thanks to BoC and Warp for finally making the announcement, although we still wonder about the years of silence. Maybe you could shed some light on that?

Also, it's a funny bit of irony that I will be in the middle of a 3-month camping trip in the wilderness of central British Columbia when the record is released. Ah well, what's a couple more months of waiting at this point?

Just ordered! I also went ahead and ordered MHTRTC, Geogaddi, TCH, Twoism, TCHw, IABPOITC, and two T-shirts. (No, I'm not a BoC noobie, I just shamefully don't own a physical copy of their music )

That was the first thing I noticed. More "Normal" titles. But I've no qualm with it. I'm sure it will fit the music. The titles have have always made their connection to the music before. The titles work themselves into the music like worms in the dirt.

Some of the track titles are a bit unusual for sure, I'm (obviously) eager to hear the tone of this album. It definitely could be bleak, but I know better than to set expectations for a boc album. I don't think anyone knew MHTRTC was coming. Geogaddi was a total mind-f&%k and a pretty big departure from the nostalgia-heavy album before it. I don't think anyone expected the laid back vibe and guitars from TCH, especially after getting a taste early w/ Oscar Sees Through the Red Eye.

The vibe I'm getting is that this album will be an entity unto itself, incomparable to earlier releases but still, unmistakenly BOC. They've never let me down before, why would they now?

Also, has anyone noticed they use alot of "T", "C", and "H" in things? Cosecha, The Campfire Headphase, Trans Canada Highway, MHTRTC, I'm sure there are more. I'm sure it's nothing but i think it's interesting.

You guys are probably right. They wrote a concept album this time, and each track title is the title of their auditory novel. I´m sure they realized this discrepancy and I´m sure there´s a reason for it. Apart from the record itself the next thing I´m really looking forward to are the interviews, in which they, hopefully, shed some light on their motives for this concept.
