I don't know i know quite a few people that like one or two boards of canada songs without being really into them. I think both bands releasing a new album would be huge news - it's kind of hard (and pointless) to compare the two.

I can't wait for that feeling when the album is announced. When I found out The Field was releasing a new album this year I got giddy so lord knows what I'll be like when Boards decide to release theirs. Until then like most fans it's getting tedious with all this waiting, especially since the black box appeared.

Please someone freeze me until the new album comes out so I can give it a listen, then freeze me again.

What if the black box isn't about a forthcoming record, but rather symbolic for emptiness. For things not to come. A subtle expression of them to express they're done making music.

Farewell fire...

I suddenly felt the urge to speculate. I think Gabe Newell hired the brothers. On second thought, if that were the case we wouldn't even have a black box.

Fredd you're one of the members that we can depend on to keep a level head on things if you begin conjecture we're ALL DOOMED

so thread consensus is we've come full circle to the "to make it symmetrical" opinion?

Yeah, why the change of heart Fredd?

It's odd. I had the same thought the other night; "Farewell fire".
TCH EP seemed like a prelude to a new innovation. They backed off of the cliches and seemed to be heading towards a different singular expression. That release is strangely reserved. So part of me is holding out that its not the end.

Its very likely that they feel time has moved past them and that they don't have anything meaningful left to say as BoC. Look how they took their pictures off their website. These guys have stuck to their guns, they are true esoterics. Maybe they just can't operate in twitter space or whatever.
