It's perhaps worse to me, I've listened 'only' 5 or 6 times but it has been looping in my brain day and night (and thru my sleep) for the past 3 days

Have you ever listened to the Old Tunes? They’re full of remixes, mashups, snippets of TV shows, etc. Some of BoC’s earliest work was TV show theme songs with reversed vocals mixed in.

It makes perfect sense that they’d use the opportunity to play whatever without concern for copyright to make a mix like this. It’s the sort of thing they couldn’t have done otherwise.
I think it is pre-twoism. I always imagine those albums as sample heavy.

There have been several obscure references on the web to BoC being in a band called “Wheeltower” before they were BoC. There’s no Hightower as far as I know.

I don't know if we've identified yet the track at 56:26 BUT the only matching lenght track from rare BoC releases is "Powerline" On Catalog 3

It does fit the description of "uneventful ambient music" that someone said catalog 3 sounded like

Nah, he's reffering to this: https://www.twoism.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14230

We've all made cringy threads at one point, I think in the end we forgave him

If it was anyone on here, I would know who it was. Not Emmet.
Did they actually face legal repercussions as a result of that?

It was weird, very weird and very detailed and I recall the implication was that MDG became understandably pissed as it took everyone by surprise and stayed up for a while. They still make a few incoherent posts here and there including strange misquotes and this really unsettling vibe to their posts as if their only goal in life is to track them down. I hope they recover from their ailment of the mind.

Oh, have to stay on topic.
Ohh what a beautiful miiixxtape, oh what a beautiful cover.

Ironic thought on Doxa Sinistra. A lot of the lyrics, with the exception of the "Leo the Lizard" line from A Team and a few others, are the voice of Douglas Rain. He was a CANADIAN actor/narrator. His parents were from Glasgow, SCOTLAND. Just found that a tad interesting.

Holy shit what a wild ride.

I think that crosses the line from “cringy” to harassment though.

I did this for me, I'm a noob, but I share it with anyone who likes to download it, I was cutting track by track and I put its corresponding tag (based on boc pages)

and yes, I have a lot of grammatical error, I'm sorry

What an absolute treat this is from Boards of Canada. Since reading interviews years ago about their influences, I've entertained the idea of a mixtape released by BoC of obscure, strange and awesome music. This is better than I expected as this is 2 full hours of gloriously strange and wonderful music. The majority of which I would not have found elsewhere.

This is just as good as a release of new music from the band, imo.

This sounds just like something they would put together for Redmoon parties when they would set speakers up in the trees in the forest. I'd have loved to have attended. Perhaps I will steal that fantastic party idea and make strange tunes to accompany a strange playlist to play from speakers planted in the forest. It's campfire season, after all.

"next door neighbours child" (possibly by Amon Duul 2) - This gruesomely lyriced song with such a lovely melody and style currently sits as my favourite of the bunch.

40 ? (boc synths with vocals "climbs to the end of time...")
This might be by an American band called The Mathletes. I have some rare music by them from 15+ years ago. It includes a cover of Roygbiv. I'm going to check this out more later on. I'm currently at work. It definitely rang some bells though.

Gah! The thread where I insisted, based on almost nothing, that the music for 'Look around you' was BoC and that Peter Serafinowicz was lying when he said otherwise

I think occasionally it takes a Glaswegian to tell you that you are full of bollucks for the point to sink in.

Just a note on the previous, but that wasn't the reason the thread was noteworthy.

Hey! Happy first post.
I will check this out in a second and thank you for breaking it down into individual segments.

you guys are great, wish his forum was always as active as it is now:) it's strange how once most tracks have been found folks go back to the usual thought process of boc shanaenigans.. we should make a "similar to societas tracks" thread with other lovely inspired tracks, there's so much out there to be heard still..love
