any word on a pre-release listening party?
maybe that's the. 'register for first access' thing
nothing as big as TH but I seem to remember a few days after the Lake Delores party, didn't Radio 1 do a full pre-release playback?

Yes, listening parties are probably what registration is for.

Yes, they did play the whole album on radio before release date. I remember some people (including me) were a little bit disappointed, but everybody liked Nothing Is Real, Cold Earth, Come to Dust, Sundown, and beats on Sick Times.

I remember the Lake Delores one being live streamed but turned off after the 3rd song so I had to wait for Radio 1!

I remember the album being livestreamed on YouTube, maybe on the release day?
At the time, I didn’t like the album. Only after I got the digital files and gave it a proper listen was I able to fall in love with TH. If we get a livestream this time, I’ll try to skip it (easy to say, but hard to do).

We got to listen to 2 new songs, Gemini and White Cyclosa. I remember thinking they could at least have played Cold Earth (the same track played at the Movement Detroit festival).
People at the time were so lucky to be hearing new BOC on a professional sound system. I don't think many of them realized that.

This thread is stll alive?
Okay. I'll offer some speculation. What do we think this listening party on May 22nd will be like? I am speculating it could be probably somewhere within the Barbican (for instance the Tate) if its in the UK. Or you know, could just be some random warehouse in Slough or Reading. Either way, its going to be an art exhibit + the music. Played through a sweet ass sound system. I don't think the brothers will be there, it will just be us. Will alchol be served? Probably not. But there shall be many trees outside the venue!
Also, interviews... interviews! Where are the interviews?

Why would anyone expect a beatless album?
I don't get it.
Fear?
That's the only explanation for all the absolutely illogical pessimism over the years that they were done for good. Fear.
Frightened of being let down.
Guess what guys, if it is beatless, which it won't be - it still won't be a let down.
It's fucking Boards of Canada.
Buckle your seatbelts boys and girls!

If there is even a singular 4/4 time signature in this album I shall immediately set fire to my headphones. I swear to god.

18 tracks of baroque renaissance music with some synthesizers added and a bit of radio static for good measure

Ok so I made an account here just to say that a "beatless" album (better say "drumless", as there is always rhythm even in ambiant music) would be really interesting to hear coming from Boards of Canada (probably because drumless BoC is my fav BoC).
(Hello everybody, nice to meet you)

A press release has been doing the rounds on Reddit which suggests that there will be an album playback on May 22 and "retail partner listening sessions" (so probably in-store playbacks) on May 28. Also suggests there will be more videos released.

Welcome to the speculation center!
And I agree, it would be very interesting!

Whatever they have decided to do will be great obviously.
I have absolutely no concerns.
I agree that would be interesting, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Nice! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for leaks.
Also, one more cryptic VHS-themed upload would be nice!

I second this! That would be a bold move. Highly unlikely, though!
Many fans would be angry, too, but then again it took years for Tomorrow's Harvest to grow on some people (I liked it from the start).

I'm not sure what planet people are on that would ever even consider BoC releasing a drumless album. Zero chance.
