Yeah, I can see that, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it turns out they've been releasing music under an alias, and BoC fans just haven't found out about it.
Heh or dismissed it as just another BoC clone

If you think the black box sets a sentimental statement of decline, you should check http://www.marcussandison.com/

don't catch the redline...

It seems like over the years, they've grown annoyed of their fans. I say that both because of the 6-year complete silence, as well as some stuff I've heard in interviews.
The only issue I've ever seen them address in interviews is that they didn't like that fans are constantly looking for deeper meanings in their music that aren't there.

Is there more to it?

I mean...when you make an album MHTRTC and then follow it up with IABPOITC and Geogaddi...

I never thought I could find HTML code hilarious until I checked it for this website.

Last night I listened to my Boards of Canada vinyl for the first time in years. Of course I listen to them in digital format more often but the vinyl sound is hard to beat. Anyways.. after listening to the vinyl I started to wonder... what happened to these guys.. are they working on any new albums.. and I ran across this forum and found the info regarding a possible new release.. I was amazed that I ran across this along with the mysterious black box on the discog menu item on their site right after I pulled out the records. I can't wait to get more news on this!

I'd advise reading both this thread and the little black box thread front to back to understand the frustration we've been dealing with.

<optimistic>I'm sure there'll be something happening this year, however small.</optimistic>

Anyway, I don't want to start a new thread for this, so I'll stick it in here in case anyone's interested:

BoC- Duffy(remix)

You can't exactly imagine being in this band is stressful, no touring, minimal media and promo obligations. The only aspect which could be a reason for them to stop is being signed to Warp but i'm pretty sure they are happy to be on that label, they are music fans after all.
Don't they have a 5 album contract with Warp that isn't finished yet? I would say that is a pretty good reason to believe they are still going to release material... those contracts are pretty binding.

I don't think warp are that that kind of assholes, especially towards BoC (one of their main attractions). If BoC wants to get out, they get out. At least...thats what I believe.

Yup, agreed. If they'd walked away, we'd have had the 'Best of...' collection, the ATP Live album, the BOC-set of odds and ends and the BOC beanie hats/tennis shoes/ladies underwear 'collection'.

They're still a record company.

Yeah, contracts override everything else, including friendships, marriages, and special relationships with record labels. That's what they're there for.

The last time I saw a black box in their discography section, it became The Campfire Headphase, or perhaps it was Trans Canada Highway. I had become quite excited by the box, which subsequently was replaced with an album cover a short while later. This current one though; I'm unsure what to make of it.

Is there a definitive BoC Remixes thread? I've had a search but no joy.
